The only reason they pulled their head out of their ass is because Albertans pulled them up from their own arsehole.
If no one said anything they would have continued to inhale their own excrement willingly.
As usual, it's the conservatives "sorry we got caught" moment, not sorry for making a boneheaded decision in the first place.

If they want to reduce dependence on these types of programs to reduce government expenses maybe they could try raising the minimum wage or reversing some of their absurd changes they made to the labour code in their first term instead of kicking down people who are already struggling.

I hear you but at the end of the day I prefer this outcome over yet another case of them stubbornly staying the course for ideological(donor funded) reasons.

Her base will eat this up of course. Unless Gondek and Sohi quickly come out and state this funding was part of the UCP's election promise, for which they tried to break yesterday behind people's backs... the cities WILL look like they 'can't afford' this type of expense. True or not, they need to swing back - and harder.

Even after nixing the nix, this looks bad on Nixon--especially with his connection to The Mustard Seed. He knows goddamn well that the removal of the low-income transit pass disproportionately affects the most vulnerable members of society. "Sorry we got caught"

Considering the city just found almost a billion dollars last week that they kind of forgot about, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a #### you from the province.
Might be a bad look for Gondek to come out and complain about money. Wouldn’t surprise me on the least to see the UCP to throw it back in the city’s face. Even if the province was part of that arena deal that the extra $800m is being used for.
To be clear, #### the ucp for this BS. Just thinking out loud about how Smith might respond.

Smith is slamming Calgary council for voting to allow non-citizens to vote. She’s either stupid and needs to read the MGA or is lying to make council look bad. I’m going with B, or B with some of A as well.

I really hope they introduce a bill called "Protecting the rights of Old Stock Canadians," just to make this whole show really worth it.
