As far as a post on the other thread by Erick Estrada, about SLC metro only having 1.2M residents, a team in SLC would also cover the professional sports deserts of Idaho and Wyoming, as well as Utah, as a "home" market, so the TV market is larger than would be expected.
The state is a huge plateau desert, geographically. There are a lot of animals that could be used for mascot/logo, including dinosaurs, which there are a lot of fossil deposits near where I live. SLC is fairly affluent, and there is a lot of tech money, available. Competition for winter sports money would be with an ECHL team in West Valley (which has about 6000/year as attendance), and the Jazz, which would be owned by the same owners that are fronting the cash for the relocation. As I said, the TV reach would be, geographically, large, include Idaho, Wyoming, and Northern Nevada.
Salt Lake City Utahraptors.

I like the idea of the Utah Roadrunners, especially if Arizona comes back and are called the Coyotes, golden opportunity for the Roadrunners vs Coyotes

Phoenix is the only place I ever saw a Roadrunner. Also where I was followed by a coyote while golfing (I think he was looking for a handout).

I think the league should have pulled the plug on Arizona a long time ago ... it feels like they have gone far beyond what was reasonable to somehow save this market and make it work there.
Meanwhile, they collected a cool $1.25 billion from Seattle and Vegas because no teams were available for relocation. I'm positive that's why they didn't pull the plug sooner.
I suspect this deal has been quietly in the works ever since the Tempe arena scheme fell through.

They'll have an advantage as they will be able to entice three-way forwards to their team whereas all the other teams can hope for is your run-of-the-mill two-way forwards.
Lol, its a temporary arena they will build a new one unlike playing in that Rec Arena currently.
Relying on the word of a flaky billionaire only gets you so far ... just ask the fans in AZ.
Delta Center is going to be a nightmare for NHL games. I'm fascinated to see how they look on TV because it doesn't seem great at all.
