I had to help my son pick up a fridge from Carstairs tonight. Driving to and from was treacherous. 50-60 km/hr, slipping and sliding, vehicles in a ditch everywhere. Tomorrow will be worse, I think. Don’t drive if you don’t need to.

I'd rather they struggle then drive in such a way as to cause accidents and possibly kill someone. Better to stay home if you're in a hurry and can't avoid situations you describe.

Have patience and drive for the conditions while watching out for other drivers.

Just came back from Edmonton. Left there at 8:30PM, filled up at Costco by the airport, had practically no visibility from YEG to Red Deer and very slushy. From RD to Calgary, mostly black ice and can feel my car sliding a bit at one point. I slowed down and tried not to change lanes unless I had to.

Average speed was 80 km/h and took 4 hours to travel 300 km for this trip. Saw 5-6 cars in the ditch along the way and another 5 vehicles on Deerfoot alone from the perimeter to the Memorial. Almost new Michelin winter tires, AWD, and slowing down helped to come home safely tonight. Be careful in the morning, everyone.

A few vehicles abandoned around Sarcee trail this morning. Secondary roads in the NE have a layer of ice below the snow and are deceptively slippery. It would be a good idea to work from home today if you can. I'm in the office wondering why I didn't.

At least it's lighter and dryer than the last snow, could use the leafblower instead of shovelling

Don't worry, I did theirs too. I'm near a school, like to get ahead of all the foot traffic

Guess you got off easy. Where I am there is ~15cm of snow and the bottom 1cm is icy slush.

I had to snowblow this morning. Took my son to school, and my driveway needs another go.

The snowfall forecast for the next week is crazy. Looks like it's here to stay.

Low visibility, couldn't see lanes and cars slipping and sliding. Yeah I'm not leaving the house for the next few days.

Ha! I never took mine down, and turned them on last night in all their glory to see if they still worked.

Roads were actually better than I anticipated based on my drive home from the game last night. Sure, things were slippery, but going a bit slower and anticipating speed ups and slow downs made the drive relatively easy I though. Only took about 10 extra minutes to get in.
