Trump said before that Comey lied. Now he's saying the imaginary tapes made him tell the truth? But Comey's story may have changed because Trump said there may be tapes. It's up to us to figure that out.
The Republicans are legitimately a scary political party. Very old school, very stuck in their ways, very corrupt. Why the American public takes them seriously is beyond me.

Is that about right?
Yes. It was a masterstroke. You lie about something, and then explain that your clever lie brought out the truth that otherwise might not have come out because someone might have lied if you hadn't lied. He's operating at a different level.
Granted, it's sort of odd that he's now saying Comey was telling the truth because that truth is not exactly flattering to the President, but we all know he's only interested in the truth. It's all about the truth to this guy!

They'd be a fringe party in any other civilized country

Trump is going to lead the USA into a civil war within 18 months of inauguration. The state of America in 2017, can draw many parallels with 1932 Germany.

No.

Huh. Peter got banned again. Apparently sometime in the last 15 minutes.

I've been waiting for an excuse to use this.

Can He Do That podcast covers the timeline of the first indication that Putin had ordered the manipulation of the 2016 election and the WH's responses, attempts at working with other parts of the government, and non-responses. Interesting stuff, there's a whole article that I haven't read yet.
Early last August, an envelope with extraordinary handling restrictions arrived at the White House. Sent by courier from the CIA, it carried “eyes only” instructions that its contents be shown to just four people: President Barack Obama and three senior aides.
Inside was an intelligence bombshell, a report drawn from sourcing deep inside the Russian government that detailed Russian President Vladi#mir Putin’s direct involvement in a cyber campaign to disrupt and discredit the U.S. presidential race.
But it went further. The intelligence captured Putin’s specific instructions on the operation’s audacious objectives — defeat or at least damage the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, and help elect her opponent, Donald Trump.
At that point, the outlines of the Russian assault on the U.S. election were increasingly apparent. Hackers with ties to Russian intelligence services had been rummaging through Democratic Party computer networks, as well as some Republican systems, for more than a year. In July, the FBI had opened an investigation of contacts between Russian officials and Trump associates. And on July 22, nearly 20,000 emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee were dumped online by WikiLeaks.
No one suggested you did... this is highly suspicious. Methinks the Duffman doth protest too much.

I was a bit disappointed that the podcast didn't actually go into what a modern civil war might look like. I'll take a stab (from current level of conflict to the highest).
Widespread doxxing of partisans on social media.
Boycotts of products and companies that seem partisan.
Hacking and cyberwarfare against partisan media organisations.
Hacking and cyberwarfare against party organizations.
Paralyzing government at all levels with legislative obstruction.
Impeachment and threats of impeachment routinely employed against opponents.
Widespread tax revolts when opposing party in power.
Interdiction of goods transiting between cities and countryside.

Man, that country is absolutely screwed if this garbage bill passes. Republicans should be ashamed of themselves. People always say "how do these guys sleep at night?" On big piles of money apparently.
I always find it interesting when Canadians complain about the 10 key items being repealed. We do not have coverage for a good chunk of those items.
Oral Care for kids
Mental health and substance use disorder services, including counseling and psychotherapy
Prescription drugs -- Birth Control especially makes health care for women in Canada more expensive than for men.
Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices, which help people with injuries and disabilities to recover -- This is somewhat covered but not fully
Granted we have better coverage overall but that list of 10 items is something that should be debated to what is included and to what scope it should be included when trying to control costs of a health care system.
