I think at this point he's just mentally unwell because of age, or he seriously has just no fks to give, he is so completely out of reality but maybe that has been how he has lived all his life.
@davidfrum: "Aggravated assault, a felony in Montana, is punishable by a term in the state prison of up to 20 years, a fine of up to $50,000, or both."
Apparently only charged with misdemeanor assault. The local sheriff is a campaign donor, FWIW.
Gianforte is a billionaire, however, and I'm hoping he gets sued bigly.
Incidentally, apparently Gianforte is also just legitimately ####ing insane.

Ha ha. Jesus. He's like a pushy, fat little boy. But at least pushy, fat little boys know when the adults are watching.
How does he not know his every move is now being watched? Doesn't this stuff get back to him? Every day there is another clip of him looking like a fool.
"Mr. President, when the cameras are on, don't act like an #######".
It's not complicated.

Gianforte's action against the reporter is a programmed response. Trump and his supporters have normalized lashing out against those who disagree with them. First it starts with ostracization; selecting those considered friendly from what you perceive as combative. Then it goes to making derogatory comments about those who you think of negatively. Violence is the next logical step. Trump said this on the campaign trail and displayed these beliefs himself. This has been normalized by his campaign and his followers.

Proper response to that is for each of these leaders is to present a bill to Trump for land used by American bases in their countries, for portage for all US ships that dock in their countries, and then restrict airspace for American military planes to specific corridors, unless approved by the member nation. Make President Comacho understand the benefits the member nations provide to the United States in projecting its military power around the globe.

Do you feel sorry for him? I don't. That's what happens when you deal with the devil. Also for such a devout Catholic, he sure doesn't mind lying through his teeth! haha.

Meanwhile, Spicer, the highly visible White House aide who was reportedly excited to meet with Pope Francis, wasn’t there.
“Wow,” a source told CNN. “That’s all he wanted.”
Spicer’s absence struck a chord. By excluding him, “Trump has done something I thought was impossible,” tweeted Josh Dawsey, Politico White House reporter. “He has made everyone empathize with/defend Spicer.”
So basically Trump still doesn't actually understand how NATO funding works.
The rest of the world should present Trump with an invoice charging him the amount that the Paris Accord would be estimated to cost the US over the next 20 years. "You want to withdraw? Sure, just pay us this 1.5 trillion and you're out! As soon as we get that cheque, we'll cut one for you on this NATO budget thing."
