Yeah but you have a spine. We want to hear from your buddies. The ones that pick their spots.

My favorite part of that game was crowd watching through the TV. Backwards hats, hoodies under jerseys, some chubby half-asleep people, and the rare double flip-off from the hefty woman in the front row AND an angry old dude at the end. I spent most of the game wondering how like half of the people could afford their seats.

Personally, I hate when anthem singers have the crowd do a verse. It's just tacky. Sing the song. It's what you are paid to do.

Wasn't sure which thread to post this in...but went with this one.
http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/ho...re-wins-game-1
This quote is from the Edmonton Urinal this morning: There is a moment — and it happens early in many a National Hockey League playoff series — when the home team and its full-throated crowd gets so amped up that the visitors seem in real danger of being blown clear out one of the vomitoria.
Vomitoria is plural for vomitorium, which is:
a) each of a series of entrance or exit passages in an ancient Roman amphitheatre; or
b) a place in which the ancient Romans are supposed to have vomited feasts to make room for more food.
Definition b) is clearly what the writer is going after, and it is very apropos.
BTW for said article, there is not a single comment posted which must mean that the loss last night made the entire fan base forget passwords and how to use the internet. #internetcleanup

At least they didn't raise a banner before puck drop.

Yeah, I knew that. But there was a lot more last night than we've seen in any other Oilers game throughout the season. That and the 50/50 jackpot are pretty much the only two positives I think the Oilers and their fans can take from last night.

Reading their pgt on HF shows how truly out of touch their fans are.
My Favorite :
"Nope. That Sharks team barely squeaked out a win when the Oilers fell apart.
The Oilers play a full game.. I don't think the Sharks have a chance.
Edmonton handed them this game and Sharks took it.
It's not like San Jose wrestled it away from us and beat us at our best. That would have been worrisome.
I wasn't impressed with any of the Sharks players offensively with the exception of Burns. They played hard but really all they did was throw pucks at the net like crazy."
Most of them are blaming it on reffing lol. Getting outshot 42 to 19 isnt on the refs.

Have you ever been to an Oilers game? They are so fascinated with themselves that pretty much the only thing they show on the jumbotron during breaks is pictures of Oiler fans. Usually stuffing their faces with chips.

I have.. I was born and raised in Calgary and we have quite the socially diverse population as well.
If someone of lesser means manages to save enough money to get to experience playoff hockey, kudos to them and shame on anyone to comment about it..
There are certain things that are out of line. And that post was absolutely one of them.

Based on the comments from all across North America on twitter last week, I'd say this opinion is in the very small minority. Be honest - it was a cool moment and if it had been in the Saddledome people here would have loved it. I get the rivalry and ribbing, but the complete inability of some people on this board to have any objectivity is amusing. Not surprising necessarily, but amusing.

Considering how they're trying to blatantly rip off the C of Red with that Chinese knock off looking red as pointed out earlier, I would love to see us rip off what they did last night with the anthem. They steal our ideas, we may as well steal theirs as an FU

No thanks. Their ideas, like their team, are NO GOOD.

And I for one, wouldn't care. I don't understand why people here are so bent out of shape over a rival organization encouraging/supporting their fans to wear the colours. OF COURSE IT'S NOT ORIGINAL!! Just as it wasn't original when Calgary did it - it's been going on in numerous cities with numerous teams for decades.
More organic in Calgary? Maybe, sure, but seriously - who cares?

I don't think they would. I really don't. The whole lifting the mic up to let the crowd sing a verse is played out.
