It's funny how the first period all 4 lines played well then only the 3m line and the 4th were kind of consistent.....I think our d played very very well.......Stone is such a stud and wow did tree ever pull off a great trade.
My heart skipped a beat and I've nev held my breath watching a game before but it worked.

was happy to see Sam Bennett play well, after what I thought was a rough game in Nashville.
Additionally, pretty clear that Bennett <> Tkachuk when it comes to that 3M line.
Any one else feel Versteeg looked disinterested tonight?

If you told me even a month ago that Lance Bouma and Alex Chiasson would be better linemates for Bennett than Brouwer & Versteeg I wouldn't have believed it... but here we are.

Yep. It's hard for me to knock Versteeg, because he's a band-aid solution. Hopefully we can get a good winger in that spot for next season and move forward without Versteeg.

I'd really like to see Bennett take Versteeg's spot at the point on the powerplay (even for a couple of games), just to:
a.) give the powerplay a slightly different look
b.) see how Bennett can handle that role

Versteeg didn't have a great game last night... but that happens to everyone now and again.
sure he's a bandaid, but if anyone thinks we could have signed someone (or have someone on the farm) that offers as much skill and smarts for under 1M, i think they are kidding themselves... add in his veteran presence and its a great addition for us this year.
to be honest, I would love for him to resign next year, so long as its for a reasonable price... say 2 year at 1.5M

I wasn't criticizing Versteeg overall, he's been a value signing at the dollars they pay him, but tonight it looked like he just couldn't push himself to care. Very odd.

oh for sure; i didn't think you were... he did look off...but who knows - it could be for a variety of reasons...
that game was an odd one as a lot of guys didn't seem to be quite right until the third...the 3m line looked good throughout the game though...
credit the Blues system, as it caused some of that confusion maybe

Versteeg took some long skates to pucks last night. By that I mean he kind of took the scenic route instead of a direct bee line to where the puck was going to be. I haven't seen him do that much. So mayb he is playing ginger with his groin again.

Yeah Versteeg isn't a guy that usually shies away from going to the hard areas and even taking a hit to make a play...something he did in bunches last night.
Hopefully just a bad game for him as i think he is a key guy coming down the stretch and into the dance. His experience is invaluable.

Must be tough as a coaching staff when you are trying to manage the upper half and lower half of your roster.
Put out the 3M line with Giordano and Hamilton and you know you get a shift in their zone and a scoring chance. But if you do that then you have three lines coming up and one of them are going to get that third defense pairing without the 3M line to keep things safe.
Put the 3M line with the third defense pairing you likely neutralize everything but then you don't generate much with the Hamilton Giordano pairing as they don't have their top line to play catch with.
One more 4/5 dman on this team would make a huge difference.
