Most guesses I saw were more in the range of the above. I would't have been pleased with that term. Dollars are acceptable if on the high side of acceptable.

I'm not upset about Reddick at that contract. He's was probably the best bet in FA but that doesn't mean he really was the best option overal. Best of what is a pretty bad pool of FA IMO.
I saw that article and Eaton would be a terrific fit. I think one of the corner OF they get needs to bring some speed to the table, which is part of the reason I wasn't thrilled with Reddick. Need to get some more team speed. I don't mind Fowler either. Losing the draft pick isn't ideal but given they are going to get at least 1 back I'd be fine with provided his deal is a bit less than Reddick's.

Unless they figure he's at max value and just want to cash out. I don't figure he'll be cheap in terms of trade cost (of course if the White Sox want to shoot themselves in the foot by all means please help them pull the trigger).

Fowler's the only guy I'd be willing to burn a pick on. But he's not going to cost less then Reddick... I figure he'll actually cost more. CF vs. Corner Outfield, Switch hitter vs. Platoon bat, better stats last year. If I had to guess on Fowler's cost I'd say probably 64M-72M (16-18 x 4).
Whether he's worth that... you be the judge.

If I'm GM of the Jays right now, I actually would throw the money and term at EE. And if he wants to play the field everyday I would gladly offer that too.

If he wants to be in Toronto, he's going to have to play the field every day. I think he's going to have to play the field every day anymore he signs if he wants 20M+. No one is signing a DH to a 20M+ over 4 years.

You think? I've read they aren't even really that interested in Edwin and the real teams interested are Toronto, New York, and Houston. A couple of days ago it was being reported that Boston hadn't even had a conversation with Edwin yet.

I'm not sure they'd pay that for Edwin... but they'll pay it for a DH (as in they're willing to). I'm sure they'd prefer not to but they're a team that wants to keep up with the Jones' so if the Yankee's go out and get Cespedas or the like they'll feel under immense pressure to something similarly spashy.

Fair. The only reason i thought maybe you can get him cheaper is i'm assuming with the draft pick attached Fowler's market may be reduced and i'm not sure every team will consider him a CF with his not so great defence.

... this is so topical to the conversation we're having I halfway wonder if Fangraphs was reading our minds today...
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/dexte...f-the-defense/
... here's what I'll say about Fowler: He's a very good all-around hitter some power, some speed, who'll take a walk/get on base. He is only an average defender (he's bounced around between being a poor defender and average defender by the metrics) but that's in CF, put him in a corner and I think he's a plus defender. That's worth spending a draft pick and some money on. Now if it's Keith Law's guess 4Y/90M then no thanks but if it's 4Yx16-18? Sign me up.

I cant see the Jays FO giving up a pick to sign Fowler. Hes pretty much exactly what the Jays need though.

I'd love to have Fowler. Be a perfect fit.
In other news, Josh Thole cleared waivers and elected for free agency. Happy day!!!!

Jays claim Dominic Leone off waivers from Dbacks
Couple rough years after a decent start to his career. Still young though hopefully it works out

Not really familiar with him. Statistically he looks more unlucky then anything the last year. With a .432 BABIP and 20%HR/FB rate he is either extremely unlucky or this guy has one of the flattest fastballs in MLB history and gives up nothing but dingers and line-drives.
Jays should be adding folk today in advance of the Rule 5 draft.
Edit: Claimed RHP Leonel Campos off waivers as well. 40 man roster sits at 36.

Looks like Cecil is signing with the Cards. 4 years, 30+ mil.
Wouldn't have minded him coming back.

I didn't mind Cecil either but for that money I think there might be better options.
