Made it to Ikemen this week. Had a Miso Ramen and was underwhelmed. Just didn't have the depth of flavor and umami I like. I'll stick to Muku. Aside from the food I kind of like the hole in the wall authenticity of that place as a ramen place.

I was at Side Street doing the same thing.
Didn't want to walk across the street in the rain, left my jacket at home like a dummy yesterday morning.

Cobs Bread is moving in beside Freshii.
We tried PRLR Saturday night, and I'm not optimistic it will last long. Not busy at all.
Only 3-4 red and white wines on the menu.
Our food was laughably bad. The House Olive Medley was a bowl of mostly pickled jalapenos, pickle spices and a few olives, served with some stale baguettes slices.
The Charcuterie Platter was bizarre - again, the same stale baguette slices, pickled egg, more pickled jalapenos, pickled beets, red pepper and carrots. Everything pickled. One kind of bland cheese, and two types of cured meats. I think the waitress was embarrassed and comped our food. They only have to walk one block to Wine Bar to see how to do a cheese board or charcuterie platter.

I had BBQ at Hayden block and the meat was basically 95% gristle. Super disappointed, I'll stick to palomino for that.
Has anyone been to the burger 320 in Kensington yet? Love their stuff in Bridgeland.

What did you have? Because I've had nothing but good stuff there. The pork ribs are unreal. The brisket is also really good. Only thing I haven't had is the smoked turkey.

I'd give them another shot.
I've been several times for the brisket. It's probably the best in town that I'm aware of. I like it better than Booker's.

After going to Hayden block a few more times, I have given up on them. The meat just isn't that good.
I'll only go now when its half price after 10.

That's a bit disappointing to hear, Ive been really looking forward to having some good BBQ in town after dining at "Meat" in Edmonton. That place is the only thing I'me jealous of from that town.

An update on the Lido building, specifically as it relates to the hotel space they have put into it:

To be quite honest I was surprised they lasted this long. It always seemed like a ghost town when I went and grabbed some.

My friend got food poisoning at Burger 320 in Bridgeland. I thought it was okay. Nothing I would ever return for.

Beside the point, but I'm often mystified how people know for sure who caused their food poisoning. Onset time can range from hours to days.

That's definitely not food poisoning.

Yeah, food poisoning takes hours to show up. Often a full 12 hours. It definitely does not happen within 10 minutes. Far more likely that something he ate for lunch did it.

A tweet from Druh yesterday evening:
A couple of years ago rumour was a "Cat Cafe" was looking to set up in the Kensington area. I believe there were challenges both with the city zoning and Alberta Health with regards to live animals and food on the same site. Perhaps this has been worked out and Calgary's first cat cafe is imminent?

I'd prefer a dog cafe, so I could take mine out for lunch.
