Told Colborne had other options for more money, but sees his opportunity with the Avalanche as his best fit.

This makes we wonder if the sticking point here was icetime/role, not $$/term.

This looks to me like Treliving learned his lesson from the Bouma signing. Don't pay a guy if you aren't sure whether or not his one great offensive season was a flash in the pan.
Best of luck to Colborne in Denver. Should be lots of garbage time to rack up points.

Tkachuk, Frolik, Ferland, Shinkaruk are some possibilities

Looks like the Flames may not have penciled him in for next year, at any price.
He sure earned his stripes for his work in the Community. He was a Class Act in that regard.
I wish him all the best.

Good luck to him. He didn't fit with what we are trying to build.

I'm glad the Flames felt the same about Joe Colborne as many of us did. He simply isn't very good and the team would be better without him. That is obvious now.
Later Joe.

Still early I guess but Ferland is a 4th liner no more. Frolik isn't he a rw? Tkatchuk and Shinkaruk still long shots for next season but yes anything is possible.

I'm glad we don't have to watch his softness kill plays all year while it counts again only to watch him light it up when it doesn't matter anymore. Flames are a much better and harder team to play against today then they were at the end of the season.

Well piss up a rope. If he's getting 5 million AAV then I don't feel quite so bad about losing him.

Powerplay Quarterback

Can't say I'm surprised and really doesn't reflect well on Treliving that he was signed for 2 years at 2.5. That's two guys we had control over - Colborne and Byron we let go for nothing. And that's from someone who likes the Brouwer signing.
Whether Treliving has worked the phones or not, he has missed some windows and shown some misjudgment on a number of things. In the end I think we have a strong squad and it's hard to know how important these things are. It's not like Benning letting Hamhuis go for nothing but still don't like it.
