Ubisoft: Hey guys, please bear with us while we fix the part of the game that gouges more money from you after paying $70 for an incomplete title.
Everyone: GFY.
Seriously, I have no intention of buying that game.

As you pay for more Helix credits, the dunce cap on your character gets bigger.

I googled it like a monster. So you just pay to unlock the map instead of playing through the game regularly? I just don't understand people.

What you used to be able to do with cheat codes now costs $9.95. I really hate what mobile gaming has done to the industry

You can also pay money for weapons too, or just save up in game currency and buy it later. Mostly, just buy your way through the game without actually playing through it. Which I guess is more for aggressive players. But not fun for me. And stealth kills are one shot kills regardless of weapons.
There is something oddly satisfying walking behind a target in a crowd of a hundred people, assassinating him, and walking away like nothing happened and being gone before the guy hits the floor.
I'm having fun with the game though. And haven't done any microtransactions. I'm exploring Paris. The detail in some of the more iconic buildings is really well done.

Oh man now that all my E3 pre-order games are shipping I have all these games to play and not enough time. Far Cry and Dragon Age to soon be added to my pile of games to play. This is a good problem to have though.

Not only shipping but we should have them delivered today. I've got Far Cry 4, Dragon Age, and GTA V all on their way (hopefully) today.

I should have LBP3 today, I like it when Future Shop sends games early.

I just wonder if it's because publishers know they can whip the devs to push patches out with relative ease.
Remember in the days of cartridge games? You better release a relatively bug-free game, because you can't fix it once you ship. That said, complexity in game development has sky-rocketed. You weren't playing with people from around the world in Blades of Steel.

The reason we have broken games is because publishers are rushing developers to release their games for the holiday season. I think they believe that people only buy games from October to December. It's incredibly stupid and I'd bet they'd make just as much money or more if they focused on putting out a quality product when it's done.
I see it as a big problem in the industry. Not only do you get these crappy, buggy games but you also get a bunch of games released at the same time of year. So given that quality is a problem and the sheer number of titles pushed out in a 2-3 month span, I am not rushing out to buy the 6 games I am interested in. I might buy 1 or 2 and the rest I'll wait until they get significant discounts. Or not at all if they don't get fixed.
Publishers need to wake up. Quality working games are far more important than the time of year they hit the market.

I might start ordering games online. Won't have to drive out to Gamestop after work, and occasionally get them before release date? Sounds good to me.
Probably a stupid question, but if you get a game before the release date, is it a good idea to play it? Or can you get banned?

I've heard anecdotes of people getting banned.

I had to swap my copy of Metroid Prime because of the elevator glitch that would lock the game maybe 50% of the time. Also, I've learned over the years that most cartridge games (at least for the SNES) had multiple versions as well. It's just not well documented unless the game had been picked apart by speedrunners or TASers.
For example, I have a newer copy of DKC2 that can't do most of the glitches speedrunners use, sadly.
