Default Monahan and Baertschi chemistry from last season

There is no denying Baertschi and Monahan had chemistry to start off last season and as soon as Baertschi was sent down you could tell Monahan struggled a little.

Early on Monahan seems to be struggling again (He was battling the flu so that could be playing a part as well), but do you guys think calling up Baertschi and having him have a shot with Monahan would be beneficial not only to Monahan but to Baertschi himself?

I really think they should get another shot together and see where that goes.

/boring Saturday with no Flames game.

I think it would be a good idea. As much as Sven struggled last year, if I recall correctly that line of Sven/Hudler and Monahan clicked really well and created a lot of chances.

Although pointless in a few games, Sven has been playing really well in for the baby flames and to be honest I think he deserves a shot again with Hudler and Monahan.

Worry not. It's only a matter of time before Sven gets another shot.

I would like to see Sven and Monny go at it again. In a couple of years, I really see our top 6 C's and LW's as a Baertschi/Monahan and Gaudreau/Bennett combo. The RW side is the only one I am unsure about.

I don't mind this at all. The two players who I thought were ready for an NHL role this year were Sven and Granlund. But even mentioning those 2 players concerning a call-up opens up a can of worms concerning available spots, if everyone is healthy.

Or we could just let our AHL club be awesome, and protect a winning atmosphere for the young guys going into next year. Injury to LW, bring up Sven, injury to C, bring up Granlund, injury to RW, bring up Ferland. Otherwise, let everyone percolate.

Agree that we need to exploit and nurture chemistry when we find it.

Apparently Sven is showing flashes of his WHL days. I think he should stay in the minors until he can bring that part of his game out consistently.

There is a bit of a trend in the NHL lately, which I'm actually 100% in agreement with, to look for chemistry in pairs. Find two guys who are magic together, and then look for a 3rd wheel who doesn't slow them down too much.

Baertschi and Monahan looked like they were starting to show this kind of chemistry.

It shouldn't be too surprising, they're both extremely talented hockey players, who were dominant in the CHL, and have first line potential.

Sven has been great in Addy thus far. He should remain there for a while longer, just to build confidence and consistency in his abilities before getting recalled for good.

Haven't heard much how Granlund is playing in GF besides his two assists last night. Heard Sven is looking good, but yeah could see either one really.

Except our AHL club is not very awesome at the moment.

Sven has zero points in five games and is a -4. I doubt he's getting a call-up until he starts producing (no matter if he's playing well or not).

I think most of us would love to see a top six of

baertschi-Monahan-hudler
Gaudreau-backlund-Raymond/colborne

Eventually, maybe. However, right now 1/3 of those players simply aren't ready for that role and responsibility.

Baertschi 5GP and 0 Pts and -4. Can't really speak on it further but definitely would have liked to see better numbers. Reinhart as well 5GP 0 Pts.

We got our first win tonight, 4-2 over Lehigh Valley. Granlund with 2 goals and Ferland with 1 and 1.
