I haven't followed this thread closely so not sure if this has been posted or not, and I know Lambert's opinion isn't highly regarded among Flames fans, but he posted this article last week and claims to have seen Hayes play quite a bit. If you don't want to read the article, Lambert claims that Hayes was a star no matter who he played with, and that his production wasn't all Gadreau-driven.
There seems to be a huge amount of speculation about what his actually desires are, the questions seem to be:
- If he wants to play near home in BOS
- If he wants to play with his bro and friend in FLA
- If he wants to play with his college line in CGY
- If he wants to play in a franchise that will be strong soon in COL (an assumption)
- If he is interested in getting an NHL spot right away
- If he is interested in not being buried under a lot of depth
- If he is interested in playing in the USA
- If he is interested in playing for a cup contender
None of these are unreasonable considerations for a player trying to decide where to sign, but has his camp really addressed any of these things?

OT, but....
A few posters in here also claimed Rattie was riding Baertshi's coat tail in Portland. Nature of the beast as Ty seems to be doing just fine in the AHL.
This is a good stat to point out, but I don't think it tells everything as there are a couple other factors to consider.
I'm not sure how many power play points Hayes got before/afterwards, but he likely went from the 1st to 2nd power play unit when moving to Gaudreau's line. Less pp time will usually mean less production. He'd also be facing tougher competition when playing even strength on the top line.
His production without Gaudreau is surprising and impressive nonetheless.
In his first 14 games he had 7 PP points, 5 of which with Johnny getting a point and he had 2 more points playing with him at even strength during those games.
Since he's a Bruins reporter, (a local beat guy?)does Divver have good enough connections around the league to suggest the Flames aren't one of the final five and to actually have inside info on who those five teams are? (Outside of Boston)

Divver isn't a Bruins reporter, he is based out of Providence and writes about the Providence Bruins and Friars.
He also keeps tabs on all amateur hockey players in the New England. So if he says he is hearing something about a player from the New England area he has sources.
However, it isn't Divver that is saying the Flames are out of the running. It is 93.7 FM WEEI radio host Danny Picard.
He is friends with Jimmy Hayes as evidenced by Jimmy Hayes making a cameo ~26:00 into a video Picard made to promote a 3 on 3 tournament in Boston (Keith Yandle also makes an apperance). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0dYH5S9A0o
The Following User Says Thank You to sureLoss For This Useful Post:
I'll be very surprised if he ends up somewhere other than boston but you never know... He may want something new and his own thing rather than playing his whole life in boston. But between how good the team is, how storied the franchise is, how it's so close home, and how good of a chance he has to make the team as a right winger... I'd say it sounds like the proposal from the bruins would be a pretty good sell.
Right, I forgot it was that Picard guy who said that. Thanks for the background info. Good to know. I'll still take what I've heard with a grain of salt.

A better sell would be Hayes coming to Calgary, a Canadian city, so he, Johnny, and Billy can go out for a rip.
