Hey guys, here's four free-to-play servers for Minecraft mini-games...

play.hivemc.com
mc.hypixel.net
mcbrawl.com
us.playmindcrack.com

I've spent a bit of time on playmindcrack.com playing survival games. DocM77 has a few recent videos on that one. I suck at PvP but pretty fun.

I've been playing on the PlayMindcrack server some as well. Maybe some evening we can do a casual meetup on there and try to all join the same Survival Games matches?

Team up and try to win? That would be fun, though we'd need Skype or Teamspeak or something.

Is there anything new on Minecraft from 2012/early 2013 worth mentioning?

If you are looking for something new, Google "Feed The Beast" mod. It's awesome.

Biggest change to vanilla Minecraft would probably be the new launcher and the addition of horses I suppose.

Quite a few major changes, actually. A lot of new blocks (quartz, coloured clay, stained glass, coal, podzol, more), mobs (witches, baby zombies, baby pigmen, chicken jockeys), passive mobs (horses, bats, clownfish, puffer fish, salmon).

A whole bunch of new biomes, or variations of existing biomes, including new trees, flowers and sometimes blocks to populate them. You can make "enhanced" worlds that exaggerates the vertical scale and results in some crazy land generation.

A lot of changes to redstone and other game mechanics, such as fishing. Too much stuff to list. Take a look through the version history pages for more...

Was just playing some Hide and Seek on the play.hivemc.com server. Fun game with virtually no learning curve. Here's a video of it by a couple of the Mindcrack guys...
