If this was the Tootoo from a couple of years ago then yeah, I would be the first to call for him to be picked up because frankly I want to have an a-hole element to our team that's still missing.
But he hasn't looked effective this year or engaged.

He might be if he realizes that this might be his last shot in the NHL.
Also he would still be better than Jackman and we can afford his $1.9mil cap hit.
And he would be the only one stupid enough to fight Iggy when the Bruins come to town.

Maybe, its the one benefit of having a ton of cap space is we can make a risky pickup. If this was the last year of his contract I would be all over it.
As it stands its players like Jackman and a Tootoo type that are pushed out of the lineup as our younger guys develop and hopefully push their way onto the main club.
I would love for the Flames to find a complete homegrown jerk face, I think the closest guy would be Poirier.

Everyone needs to realize that picking someone up means sending someone down.
Is this a upgrade on Jackman? Ya sure but Having Tootoo and McGrattan in the line up is stupid as it takes away from a younger guy and I don't take Tootoo over McGrattan.

I wish Bouma or Ferland would make the Matt Cooke leap..... We haven't had a real dick on the team since Fleury left town. Well Niemo but he was only here for half a season. Even Phaneuf was tame.

I'd put Jackman on waivers and give him a shot.
Almost anyone is an upgrade on Tim at this point.

I would. Mcgrattan doesn't even fight anymore. At least when you have Backlund centering the 4th line, Tootoo might actually put up a few points with him.

I don't think he brings any change to the team whatsoever, except stupid penalties. I'd pass.

Why doesnt he fight?
I have heard Hartley specifically tell him not to for some games and I always see him talking to guys trying to but lets get serious...who wants to fight him? His job isnt to fight but to scare the other team enough not to take liberties. If you ask me he has done his job as good as anyone can ask as nobody has taken any runs at our young guys.

No way. Theres very little positive upside other than; 'hes cheap.'
His 'a-hole' element has been reduced to taking stupid penalties. He just doesnt bring enough to the table.
Pass.

Agreed. McGratton's been doing exactly what hes supposed to. Hes not fighting because no one wants to fight him. Perfect. If no one wants to fight him then no one is taking liberties.
A job well done.

The good thing about Tootoo is that we can send him out to run their young guys back.
Also he is only 1 full season from his 30 point, 92PIM, 151 hit season from the no-offense Preds.

I don't want him. I don't think he provides what the Flames need, BUT if the Flames to do take him, I would hope that we would give up something to get him. I don't think we need to add someone like him unless we take someone like Jackman out.

hmmm i never thought of that. Feaster wouldn't be stupid enough to allow Hartley to send out a Mcgratton-Jackman-Tootoo line would he?
Ok pass on tootoo...... send our 2nd rounder to the Island for Clutterbuck!
