Disagree.
I've gotten free entrance without a line into LAX on a Friday night, including the VIP area where "the Rock" was partying. Free entrance and free drinks at the Rhino on a Friday night. Just ask around. The locals can be your best friends.
If your plan is to hit the best spots at the last minute without any connections, you will probably pay the $1000/day you are talking about. However, making a good connection in Vegas is easy and quick, money talks. It's a town where they will give you free drinks just for entering a casino, the promotions and perks are everywhere for people who take a little time to find them. Larger groups of guys may be harder to accomodate, but they also have more money to grease wheels with.
You have to learn to play Vegas the way it plays you. I have friends who go down there and spend $2000 on gambling alone with nohting to show for it. I have other friends who spend about half that, but get hotels phoning them and offering free suites for weekend.

I disagree - it's a totally different experince in my opinion. Just like partying in Montreal is totally different than Vegas.
All are awesome, just different.

Spending $1000 a day in Vegas? Wow. If that was truly how much people would need to "have fun" in Vegas, the place would be empty. I agree with Vlad and others. Plan to spend $300, smartly, and you'd be OK.
Glad I don't know any people who think similar to username, what a waste of money. Vegas is playing you like a fiddle.

Umm really?? You do know Ibiza is the #1 party spot in the world... Vegas Clubs, Vegas girls, isn't even in the same category as Ibiza.

I don't recall saying anything about Vegas being better but thanks for putting words in my mouth. I said it's different just like Montreal is different than Vegas.

If you think you can "smartly" spend 300 bucks in Vegas and have a good time on a stag then I'm glad I don't know people like mpaca. What a waste of a good trip - Vegas is playing YOU like a fiddle.
I don't think I could go away anywhere and drink all day for less than 300 bucks unless it was in my own home.

Cannes during the film fest is my favourite party spot in word. Nothing like sipping cocktails next to Kirsten Dunst and then taking in a Carl Cox set a 4 in the afternoon.

LOL at the fact that people are telling you how much to spend on YOUR good time. I've been to Vegas numerous times, usually about every 2 months or so I go, and I find every one fo my trips is different and spending amounts are all different as well.
When I go with family I don't do the club thing and spend most of my time gambling, less money on booze and entertainment, more money on meals and gaming. With Friends it's opposite.

It's true. Everyone's time in Vegas is spent differently..
To have a real good time in Vegas, you do have to end up shelling out some money. Username's $1000 a day is probably at the max, but that would guarantee you have a GREAT time, especially at the bar and the pool parties. It all depends on the person really, some guys want the full VIP experience, and with that budget, you will have a lot of girls at your tables (most of them will fish you just for the drinks, give you a few minutes of attention and then on to the next one, as per Jay-Z)
But you can also spend $200/$300 a day but it depends on your numbers and the clubs you go to, since it's minimum 1 bottle for every 3 guys at the more newer clubs at the City Centre and north end of the strip. But always easier to plan ahead and talk to hosts before to get their bottle minimums, and let your guys know ahead of time, so you can have the cash ready.

Im heading down on Sunday and was curious if anyone has gone tandem skydiving down there? Think it would be a blast.
Further to that anyone done the skyjump off the stratosphere? worth the 100 bucks if you did?

When you go to pay for the skyjump, give them 1000 instead of 100. I hear the entertainment value is WAY better that way.

There are all sorts of deals to be had in Vegas.
The outlet malls are awesome
You can pre purchase club packs + I have had luck with standing in the VIP line to avoid the madness in the regular line and told the guy that "someone" told me to come talk to you instead of standing in the line.
Tip $20 at check in and chances are you will be upgraded
Hit the grocery store "Von's" on the way to the strip to pick up some snacks while your in the room, booze as it is pricey to buy on the strip and tobacco if you smoke as it is also much more expensive on the strip.
Limo's can be found at a great deal and chances are you can find other people/make friends who will join in on the fun.
Edit:
Shows can be pricey but my favorite which I have seen a few times now was Zumanity. It is also the cheapest of the bunch.
Hit the NYNY rollercoaster and the big shot on the stratosphere. The other 2 are not that great. I also would like to hear feedback from someone who has done the sky jump. I was there a couple days after it opened and didnt have the courage.

Regardless of how much you're planning to spend, username is right that it's important that everyone in your group be on the same page.
For strip clubs, you have several solid options, but never ask a taxi driver for advice, because they'll just try to sell you on whatever club gives them the biggest kickback. Depending on what you're looking for, you should make one of the following your first strip club stop in Vegas:
Treasures - solid classy club that isn't quite as busy or impressive as the Spearmint Rhino, but they have dollar beers from 4-6, so it's a great place to start the night.
Little Darlings - probably the best club in the U.S., but it doesn't have much of a party atmosphere and there's no alcohol, so load up beforehand, sneak in some liquor, and make your own atmosphere
Spearmint Rhino - the hottest women you'll ever see, but be prepared for the hustlers
Olympic Gardens - the most aggressive lap dances in Vegas, especially during the day shift, but the quality of ladies isn't quite as high
Badda Bing, Cheetah's and Sapphire are all decent options as well, but I wouldn't go to any of them until you've been to at least one of the four clubs that I mentioned above. And just let me know if you have any specific questions about the clubs in general or any particular club.

Free entrance in LAX? how did you manage to do that without getting a table or waiting in line? free drinks and entrance into the rhino as well?? I have met a few locals downthere but ive never met or been with anyone (besides the ones that gamble $50k+) that have gotten that kind of treatment. is there any advice that you can give me to "play vegas" and got the most out of it without being broke?

If you're willing to go off Strip for dinner (and not even that far) what is routinely referred to as the best Thai Restaurant in the US is a short cab ride from the north end of the strip.
Lotus of Siam
Prices are basically a little above your average Viet place in Calgary, but with an amazing wine list. I make a point to go there every time. My Wife and I even walked from the Sahara once, which took about 10 minutes and was interesting, to say the least. (I wouldn't recommend it.)
Map
Also it's in the same giant strip mall as a huge swingers club, so you can gawk at freaks.

^^ looks like they have one of their 60% off deals through Restaurant.com at the moment.
Ridiculously huge portions but good quality as well.

LAX was done by making friends with the promoter with the clip board who walks around by the line once the club gets started. We were directed to her earlier by a random bar tender. She then gave us free passes that allowed us to skip the line. The line skipping itself was worth more than the free pass IMO. In general, most of the big clubs will have promoters walking around handing out free passes.
The rhino was done through the valet guy at the taxi line. It got us a limo to the club, 1 free drink each, and free cover. We tipped him $60 dollars, so I guess it wasn't technically free, but there was 5-6 of us, so still much cheaper than all those things put together.
In general, I would say work the valet guys, the check in guys, and the people at the booths, you are bound to find a connection. Just be friendly and chatty with everyone who serves you. It's not necessarily the locals who have the connections but the employees.
My last trip to Vegas was in November. The place is still down from the economic downturn, so certain places are desperate to get you in the door. You should easily be able to talk your way into discounts on bottle service, cover, etc...There are very few things in Vegas that you should pay full retail for right now. Room upgrades, free drinks, 1/2 price show tickets, etc... whould all be things that are standard right now.
I think the trick is to be flexible with your plans to. For instance, if we'd gone out and said we are definitely going to this one club tonight, we would have paid through the teeth for it. Instead, just kind of ask around for good times. Just know enough about the city itself to realize what you are getting and where you are going.

There are people on every street corner who offer free passes to the clubs during the day. Don't those work just the same?
