If I was Israel
I would follow standard procedures for a blockade.
I would radio the ship, tell them to kill their engines and prepare for inspection or they can off load their cargo at an Israeli port after inspection.
If they refuse or continue to try to run the blockade, I shoot over their bow and send another radio message, warning them that we will disable their engines.
If they continue moving towards Gaza, I disable their engines, throw a tow rope on it and tow it to Israel.
I have the press waiting for me there, I would board the ship in port bringing camera crews with me. I would carefully inspect the cargo, then load the stuff that's allowed in and drive it to the border with the press in tow.
Hamas of course won't accept it, so I would shrug my shoulders to the camera and state that its apparent that Hamas and this group are trying to score political points and don't give a crap about their citizens.

It is also understood the activists have agreed with the Israeli authorities to waive their rights to appeal their deportations, and will be put on flights out of Israel as soon as the paperwork is processed.

The type of bigotry Israelis face day after day after day. The type that certain "selective outrage" people turn a blind eye to
A Cairo court on Saturday upheld a ruling to strip Egyptian men married to Israeli women of their citizenship in a case that has highlighted national sentiment towards Israel.
**************************
"This ruling is for the benefit of Egypt, a nation of leadership, history and civilisation," Wahsh said. "It is for the protection of Egypt and Egypt's youth and its national security."
"The decision comes as Israel continues its assault on those who love peace. The latest example is the aggression against the aid boat which was heading towards the blockaded "GazaStrip" he added.
Hitchens' SELECTIVE OUTRAGE
Another of my favourite Leftist inconsistencies is the tangle they get themselves in over Islam and Israel. In their universe Islam is good where it challenges the conservative Christian monoculture of Britain and the USA. Islam is bad when it denounces homosexuality and demands the veiling of women, and generally opposes the sexual revolution which is the main concern and aim of the modern left. Islam is good when it pursues its unrelenting war against Israel. It's bad when, in the mythical form of 'Al Qaeda' or the more tangible form of the Taliban, it 'hates our way of life' and opposes the education of women, etc etc.

I don't see any inconsistency. There is good and bad to every religion's teachings. I have SERIOUS issues with the teachings of the Bible, but don't outright dismiss the charitable work done by churches.

Hopefully they do actually block it. Just refuse to let it through. Box them out. And fire warning shots if you have too. Hell, fire non-lethal weapons on the ship from helicopters. But don't board.
See how long these activists(morons) will hang around.

Hopefully Israel handles it better this time. If anything I don't think they have any choice after the first debacle.
Fire warning shots, block the ship, disable their engines etc. but only the last resort should be to go on board like last time. We know how that'll end up. I think it's clear that the folks on the boats aren't the peaceful protestors that they originally claimed but at the same time they aren't armed with powerful weapons so there's little reason for any force unless all other options fail.
Too much is on the line. Any force by Israel, justified or not, will end up as another black eye.

I am not amazed nor startled that after the accusations against Israel some people made in this thread, the posters have lurked away into the shadows, only to reappear again when they have a chance to slander Israel any way they can. Never once do they deal with the facts after the dust has settled, as they only post out of hate.

Takes guts to divine the motivations of posters like you have. Especially when it is in the libelous manner that you just said yourself was unacceptable.

For the use of the term "libelous manner" against a anonymous poster on a internet sports forums off topic area in a discussion about International relations

I don't know how many of these threads you keep up with, but over the last few years I've learned that some posters only come into these threads to bash Israel and accuse them of being evil, and then leave.
And when the facts come out and we find out what actually happened, they're nowhere to be found.
The comic I posted earlier is more true that we know.

Having perused the last 5-6 pages of this thread (almost a week's worth of posts), I don't see any justification for nage waza's accusation. I think the thread has been quite civil and undeserving of that type of criticism.
Rather, comments like those just shut down discussion.

Except any criticism of Israeli policy is labelled as anti-Semitic by Nage. There's no such thing as discussion with him on these points, it's a constant case of accusation regardless of what is said.

That is certainly not true, I enjoy discussing the subject. In fact, your claims against me are entirely invalid. There is a major difference between those in this thread who are debating the merits of the subject, and there are others who simply post ridiculous claims with no truth in them. If those ridiculous claims are in support of Israel, I am sure many on here would call that person out.
I can see where you stand with a dumb post like you made.

Dude I've been through this with you in other threads. There are times when people have said things that are pretty ignorant, but you frequently latch onto small things as well. I've discussed these issues with lots of my jewish friends and the same points that we have an actual conversation about you declare to be anti-Semitic. I find you throw it around way too much, and it devalues any arguments that you have.

I can't confirm these pictures as real, but they seem to show the "protestors" taking soldier as hostages:
http://fotogaleri.hurriyet.com.tr/ga...id=36575&rid=2
We also know at least some of them were armed, as the soldiers were shot twice. So when armed men take a soldier hostage, they cease to be out of control rioters and become full fledged military combatants.
Can anyone really say in a situation where armed men have hostages on their way into Hamas controlled territory, lethal force is not absolutely necessary?
Edit: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/world/mid...t/10251805.stm
These pictures are confirmed as real.

'Latch onto things'? Like what? I am pretty clear about what I am saying, and I am VERY clear about where I think many people get their so called facts from. Events such as 'Israel Apartheid Week' distribute hate literature that I see snippets from in threads. Some people are either reading that material and thinking they are facts or are simply trying to slam Israel.
And I doubt anything I have called anti-Semetic is information that is discussed with 'lots of your jewish friends'. If you have any examples, I would love to see it. Other than that, your accusation against me is completely BS, and you know it.

The funny thing about the Israel-Palestine debate is how people half a world away get so involved with a tiny country of only 6 MM people. I understand that it's prime real estate for all major religions but it's rather silly how much we get involved with it, myself included at times. It's like the abortion debate. You pick a side and stick with it no matter what. There are no meeting in the middle and that's why there'll never be peace in that part of the world.
Family Guy sums it up: "It doesn't matter where you are from as long as you're the same religion."

True. Unfortunate. And it shouldn't as they are fighting psychopaths for their own survival. If things were 'normal' Israel would get the world's benefit of the doubt. They don't. As seen throughout this thread there are many who post on CP that will blame Israel no matter what and give a pass to their neighbours no matter what.
History has no meaning for these people as they willfully choose to ignore it. I and other can type until our fingers bleed pointing out how Israel has continuously made concessions to their opponents (Hezbollah and Hamas) only to be rewarded with more attacks and that more concessions to these people will NOT lead to peace. Hence the wall, the blockade, and the continuous military diligence.
there's little reason for any force unless all other options fail
Here is something we can debate. The combatants gave the Israelis little choice. It was an ambush. The videos show them laying in wait and attacking the soldiers as they landed on the ship. Not with fists....with weapons. Even preparing them.
As for stopping a large vessel without boarding or sinking it is close to physically (and I mean physics) impossible.
