Holy crap. Bring in a phone book and get a $66.75 seat for $5??? That is nuts.

Slightly OT: The Flames/Jackets game tonight has a promotion where if you buy four 12 packs of Pepsi from a grocery store in Columbus, you get 2 tickets to the game.

Good for them, I love it. In this case I think that everyone is a winner. More professional sports organizations should follow this example.

I hope more and more southern teams do this to piss of fans in Canada.

I'm still waiting for my Vodka night.

It doesn't piss me off. To me it's embarrassing for the organization. I like the idea of doing some good rather than just leaving the seats empty. However you better believe that if they could sell those seats there is no way they'd be giving them away.

The Coyotes can do whatever they want this year to attract fans, it won't bother me in the slightest.

Idea for April games:

"Come and experience the last ever professional hockey game to be played in Arizona!!! Bring a pair of skates and get in free!

The entire team would get in free.

I agree that you probably won't be seeing this from a sold out venue, for example Calgary. That being said I think thats kind of the point. Lets get people in the building, maybe attract a niche that wouldn't normally go to a hockey game. On top of that they are advertising something good in the community and developing a positive face to the fans and potential fans.

It's a marketing ploy and hopefully it does help them sell a few more tickets in the future. The other side of things is if the marketing ploy fails at the very least they are doing something good for the community. It's a win/win imo.

Winnipeg could fill a 15,000 seat arena with this promotion . . . . Winnipeg could support an NHL team!

The Flames can note all these promotional activities so they have a plan in place after they succumb to fan pressure and blow up the team by shipping out all the core players.

Maybe this topic can evolve a bit. An extension thought to cheap seats / giveaway tickets, was discussed (albeit briefly but I thought was interesting) in I think one of those expansion threads- how do these promotions devalue the tickets?

Great promotion, I get the whole green thing, yes, but at what cost? Fans then relate the seats to desperation. And maybe these franchises are, but when you devalue your tickets I think there is more at stake with your franchise reputation in your local region. How much thought goes into that?

I recall the mid 90's where if you bought a 12 pack of Coca Cola, you got a Flames ticket for $5. So it's not like this sort of thing is exclusive to any one region.

In any case - I think it's a great idea. Would sure help traffic after the games too.

I thought he had got a defective tv. The technology was in its infancy. It took a long time to figure that one out."

If the Lightning fold, can they award the 2004 cup to us?
