Microsoft Store opening in Chinook
http://content.microsoftstore.com/en.../chinookcentre
Not sure if this was already posted somewhere, but just thought I'd mention it. I'm up in Edmonton regularly and when I need to go West Ed or Southgate I always stop in.
Also, if you happen to be a Microsoft store today, they are selling the ASUS x200 for $199 (regularly $299). http://windowsitpro.com/windows-81/m...icrosoft-store
You can also purchase it online.

There were a number of killer deals with Boxing Day and Black Friday in Canada for the Microsoft stores that were in store only. Good to hear.

Saw my first one while in Vegas. Blatant apple store ripoff.
Wasn't a bad store though, got to try out one of their tablet covers with the built in keyboard. The also had a promotion on that you would, at minimum, get a $300 credit towards an MS tablet if you turned in your iPad.

Seems like a good deal for them. they can probably turn around and sell them for about the same price.

I was at one of these in Seattle, ironically across the parking lot from an Apple Store. As you would expect, the crowd in the Apple Store was about 8x a big. Pretty much aped the AS exactly, down to the birch look to staff running around in blue t-shirts.
Was good to try out some of the new technologies at the time. Discovered Win 8.0 wasn't as bad as I thought. Tried the new Surface Pro which left enough of an impression I bought one a few months later.
Here's the problem - I couldn't bring myself to pay full MSRP at the Microsoft Store when I knew I could probably find a deal at MemEx / Staples / Amazon when I got home - so it basically became a showroom vehicle for other places. Maybe's that's MS's intent - to expose people to stuff, but as a consumer - I know there are better deals to be had elsewhere in the Microsoft reseller world.

I find most stores that sell similar things look alike. A 7-11 is laid out similar to a Macs, a Walmart to a Canadian Tire, a Safeway to a Co-op.

When people spend money doing something, there is a usually a whole industry devoted to figuring out the best way to get them to spend that money.

Anyone visited the store today? How is it? I missed this thread in the morning and I think I may want to pick up the Asus laptop for $199. I imagine they are now sold out. If a CPer picked one up and is having buyer's remorse, let me know...
