Perez likely was a bit hot over not overtaking Leclerc after the straight and having let Sainz by. Wasn't paying attention to Sainz moving over to close off the inside while drifting to the outside.

Stewards ruled it a racing incident which is the right decision. Sainz moved over but that’s the normal racing line. Perez was tying to hold his racing line to get the slipstream and overtake. Neither wanted to compromise the racing line and given how close they were, hard to fault either.

Gotta give McLaren some credit today, they salvaged Norris's race and had the car perfectly dialed in to manage Ferrari. All in all a very very good day for McLaren.

I'll say this though. I don't think Norris is gonna be at McLaren for too much longer. I think they're putting their eggs into Piastris basket.

With Verstappen in 1st (and likely to win the driver's imo) and Perez in 8th (and likely to finish ~8th) I found an interesting little fact.

If that happens, he'll have the lowest finish by the teammate of the Drivers champion in 30 years.

In 1994 Schumacher won the driver's with Benetton, while his teammate finished 10th. Schumacher's teammate who finished 10th that year? Jos Verstappen.

In fairness to good old Jos he didn't compete in all the races, but thought that was an interesting bit of symmetry.

Right, I mean I think that sort of proves it. If someone else can win the championship in the same car that you're finishing 8-10 in, you're doing a bad job.

I've had a thought. Lando to AM to take Alonso's seat in 27. I can see it.

Jos had 10 pts in 10 races (including shockingly two 3rd places).

JJ Lehto had 1pt in 6 races for Benetton - he was originally planned has Schumi's teammate, but injured his neck in testing so Jos did the first two races, then JJ took over for a while and sucked so bad that Jos replaced him again. And Lehto got to come back for a couple more races Schumi was banned.

So I'd say Lehto has to take that distinction (or at least its a shared dishonour)

Johnny Herbert drove for three different teams that year, including the last two races for Benetton.

Last 7 Races (incl 1 sprint):

Oscar 135
Lando 105
Max 94
Charles 87

McLaren 239
Ferrari 155
RBR 126

7 races in a row finishing 4th or higher for Oscar. Charles did the same for the first 8 races of the year and is now on another streak of 5 races.

7 races to go with 3 more sprints. As crazy as the momentum seems, Lando has only taken double digits out of Max once all year (back at Australia when Max retired)

What a great race...always liked that track.

The pool results......congrats this week to yours truly. 3 slotted and 8 top 10 picks correct. Agulati gets second this week with 2&8. The rest of you (except KelV) ...haha

Overall things look even better as the universe has healed...Flamesrule has taken over top spot by 7 points over 3thirty. Bizaro86 and Agulati are tied for 3rd, 5 points back.

FurnaceFace this was your last miss...next one is a doughnut.

Singapore is this weekend...

Spoiler!

Fudge. I was liking my pics after qualifying and hating them at the start of the race.

As soon as Landos Q1 stuff went down I wrote the week off.

Probably just gonna roll the same picks for Singapore, another city circuit I don't much enjoy.
