Real pro. Enjoy retirement Langkow.
Loved Daymond Langkow on The Flames and The Coyotes. Too bad, must not have had interest from Don Maloney. He played awesome in the playoff run for us last season.

I always really liked Langkow as a player.

I hope he has a great retirement. Best of luck Lanks!

Cheers Langkow. Didn't think it was wise of you to take 22 right after Conroy, but you certainly earned it.

Hate the way his time with the Flames ended. Such a terrible injury and he only saw a few games after coming back with the Flames. If not for the injury I bet he could have kept being a productive NHLer for atleast a couple more seasons. One of the most reliable forwards I've ever seen in the modern NHL. Other players could learn a lot from him.

No. This one is more impressive because he got a proven player for garbage.

I guess the equivalent today would be Backlund and Babchuk for like Joe Pavelski.

I don't know. Does 2013 Pavelski = 2005 Lankgow? You get my point though....

Definitely one of my favourite Flames of all time. I was really pissed when my first YouTube account got taken down because I lost 2 Langkow highlight videos I had made.

I'll be re-doing them eventually though.

He had the best hand-eye coordination I've ever seen.

Get er done, Feaster!

Sad to see Langkow go. Just a solid, solid guy. Makes me feel old that he is retiring. O_o

The fact that he played with a broken hand in the playoffs vs Chicago, then blocked a shot in the next game and broke the second hand, and played through both for that game and the next, still taking draws, is all that needs to be said about the man.

At time was skeptical of him being a replacement for Conroy coming out of the lockout, but a model of consistency and made some of the schlubs he got lumped with better as linemates. Season in and season out put up consistent points.

The fact that he came back from the fluke and scary situation of getting the puck in the back of the neck in Minnesota confirms the warrior status.

All over the ice this playoff game, good stuff starts after 1:05

6 goals, 12 assists, in 24 playoff games is second most for that 4 year era of the Flames in the playoffs....only Iginla has more points 25 in 24, in that same time.

Severely underrated Flame, probably due to his quiet demeanor and his attitude...but the heart and soul of the Flames for 4 solid years who went about his business and all the coaches with no attitude (other Flames forwards can't say the same during that time), just class. Over 1000 games in the league, never playing less then 71 in the past 12 seasons.

My favorite Langkow moment. 4:00 minute mark is a good spot to start the clip. Balls out effort here.

Great hand eye coordination, was very good at standing infront of the net battling and looking to deflect pucks in or score on the rebound. Also the only center the flames have had in a long time that could hold his own against other teams top lines. His skillset still has not been replaced. Unfortunate that his career with ended with injuries as he could of been a productive player for many more years.

He wasn't a very big guy either but he sure could keep his feet while not shying away from anyone. Just a solid hockey player who didn't get the headlines but to me he was a star.

Did he say why he packed it in?

Man, i miss watching the Juice-Langs-Iggy line... That was pretty fun to watch for a few years there. Really ####ty way to go out as a Flame, it was too bad he didn`t recover quicker.

No question he lived up to his draft position. He arguably had a better career than any player selected ahead of him, and was one of best players in the entire draft (Doan, Iginla, Sykora, Redden, Berard, and Savard were the other most notable players from Langkow's year).

Anyways, enjoy retirement Langks. That 77 point season with Iggy was fun to watch. Too bad the Flames didn't have more success with him on the team.
