Default What to do in Nashville?

Heading there next to visit family for the first time next week and want to get away on my own for a day.

Any good restaurant recommendations? any recommendations for fun things to do would be appreciated.

Was there in Dec 2010 for a Titans-Colts game. Great strip down (Broadway I think) by the river and about a 15-20minute walk to the Titans stadium. Has to be 50 bars down there. Loads of them have live music (country, jazz, blues) etc. Its ALOT of fun.

Check out the Grand Ol Opry house as well. It is pretty good. Was partly flooded out when we were there.

Obviously go see a Titans game if there in town as well.

I have heard East Nashville is a must see place.....

I was joking since they apparently don't like outsiders in their Ghetto.

Go see as much live music as you can, Nashville has all kinds of small acts hoping to take the next step.

Tootsies is on the main Broadway strip that FLAMESRULE was talking about. While you're there, you can walk to Printer's Alley, it's only 2-3 blocks away.

Broadway is really touristy but great if you like partying and modern country music/80s rock.

East Nashville can be fun but is more hipster/younger person oriented. Take a cab to Five Points and bar hop a little there. Battered N Fried is a great Boston themed seafood and sushi joint.

If you like spicy food, make sure to check out Prince's Hot Chicken in East Nashville and experience Southern fried chicken. Be careful though, their mild is about as hot as a normal place's extra hot.

Ask the locals to name their hockey team, the blank expressions on their faces should provide you with plenty of entertainment.

One doesn't need to ask what to do in Nashville,Whether you fly in or drive there are signs everywhere about the Downtown/Beale street/Broadway district and you won't be disappointed.(unless your a complete dork)

Not true at all, Preds are more popular there than you think.

Nashville is one of the most "alive" cities i have ever been to. Tons of things to do, so dont worry about finding something. The strip is mind boggling for sure, and every type of live music imaginable.

Lots of good eats as well, but most of it in the "comfort food" category, so be prepared for some serious calorie intake.

Depending on what your type of music is, there's the country music hall of fame, right off Broadway and near the Bridgestone arena or whatever they're calling it nowadays. Really well done and some great exhibits. Grand Ol' Opry is amazing just to walk around in. Ryman Auditorium has a ton of musical history as well.

Nashville is a great city and this is coming from someone who dislikes country music.\

I've always thought that Calgary should try to replicate the night life and live music scene of Nashville to a smaller degree to create a Nashville North type of vibe. Build off of our western heritage, rodeos and Stampede roots. It works for 10 days a year, why not the rest of the year? Ranchmans has worked for 30+ years. Cowboys was the place to be for years and seems to be getting back there. Bar named Sue was a cool place. Ironwood is great for live music. We need more of them.

Apparently it's been a while since you were there. East Nashville has some of the best restaurants and bars in the city.
