Just read through the Rose allegations. They approach Weinstein levels of gross.

For anyone who has read about them, what is your opinion of Yvette Vega? I'm not sure what her role is at CBS, as it seems that Charlie Rose was independently produced and then distributed by CBS. And she was likely victimized by him herself. She as openly spoken about regretting not doing more, but is her culpability lessened by her being a woman? Sounds like pretty much everyone was willfully ignorant of what was happening, say for a few male workers who reached out as life lines in case things "got sketchy". But it seems like she was the one with some authority to bring it to someone who mattered and continually squashed and oppressed allegations.

The White House has not said this out loud but I'm sure their internal rationalization is that the Access Hollywood tape and sexual allegations came out before the election and Trump was still elected, so people obviously do not care about these allegations. This is the same argument about Trump and his tax returns -- that he didn't release them and still got elected, ergo, people don't care about his tax returns.

Many have argued this #MeToo movement is a reaction to Trump getting away with it. Trump wasn't taken down so other powerful men will be taken down.

I do the same. I really enjoyed his show. I also loved Louis C.K. It's sad that these guys are pretty terrible humans.

The Needle Vinyl Tavern (Edmonton) closes indefinitely after former employee alleges sexual harassment

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmont...ment-1.4411922

A popular downtown Edmonton bar and live music venue has shut down indefinitely after a former employee alleged she was groped by one of its owners.

Several musicians and groups, including Brunch Club, The Red Cannons, Cups N Cakes, Sudden Love, Current Swell, and the Taggart and Torrens podcast, have cancelled performances at the venue in the wake of the allegations.

Reade said sexual harassment is common in the local music industry. She said she has heard of promoters using their power to take advantage of young women in the industry.

My God my phone case just melted from the volume of texts about three separate rumors of big name sexual harassment/misconduct around media. Pro tip: Nobody take Thanksgiving off.

@KeithOlbermann

Pro tip: it’s happening to in un-famous circles as well...let’s report more fully and not only expose celebrities! This is becoming celebrity gossip instead of change for our society

here is something else that has to end. the idea that it isn't rape if you're in a relationship.
re: Danny Masterson

Exclusive: In audio of a phone call I obtained, @dannymasterson's publicist, Jenni Weinman, suggests to one of his victims that a woman can't be raped by a man she's in a relationship with. The Church of Scientology told the victim this as well.

https://etcanada.com/news/274131/dan...o-story-there/

Bixler claimed she was unconscious during sex at least twice during their relationship, and that the Church of Scientology – to which she belonged at the time, and Masterson still belongs – convinced her it wasn’t rape.

In October 2016, almost 15 years after the alleged assault, Bixler posted on Twitter: “Because your boyfriend tells you it’s not rape if you’re in a relationship and then his church covers it up. #WhyWomenDontReport.”

I think harassement in the music business is likely as bad as Hollywood, but isn't the punishment for just being accused way to much?
this is where it gets iffy for me.

because of one claim of sexual assault, all the bands cancel and the club is forced to shut down? it's easy to make an accusation. the hyperactive rush to judgement is kind of scary.

wish I was a big time gambler. be easy to pay someone to accuse Tom Brady of assault before the superbowl for example, and then clean up. easy for people to turn this into a tool revenge and/or profit.

I want your business location so I'll just ruin your reputation, you'll be forced to close and i'll buy it for cheap.

I think false allegations are very rare. And I think about how many cases are never reported at all. Music communities share a great deal of information that is not public. For example, women in the community across Canada new Ghomeshi was a "bad date" to say the very least.

He was blackout drunk and groped me several times after I repeatedly said no," Rudyck said. "It came to the point where I had to ask security to kick him out. He was disrespectful to a number of staff that night, and sadly that was not the first time he'd acted inappropriately at the venue." Rudyck said she told her manager and several staff members about what happened and received some support, but no apology.

Rudyck was among four female staff members who sent management an email raising concerns about a new hire that several women had concerns about.
Some people (ex. Rosie) are claiming that Franken is being set-up, but I really doubt that.

If by that you mean that we should believe the victims and investigate their claims thoroughly, I agree.

Well written article from a writer on Grey’s Anatomy about the accusations against Brett Ratner. A point by point rebuttal of his denials.

it seems that there is a new body floating down the river almost daily - in some ways it is hard not to become a little tone deaf to all of this.

After that Olbermann tweet and then nothing, my guess is that some cheques were cut.

I'm surprised there are not more criminal charges laid.
