And this is a good point. But I think the success in the direction you want tablets to go will go from growing a mobile OS upwards, not a desktop OS downwards.

I still think Windows on a tablet would work for a small segment of the market, but after thinking about it more and reading this thread it has made me realize it won't be an iPad competitor in any real sense.

All these problems, including the ######ed keyboard button are all the side effects from the Win7 Tablet implementation. The OS is not designed around this type of peripheral and it will always be clumsy and not have the intuitive features that modern portable touchscreen devices have. It will still operate like an archaic desktop and the keyboard button probably just operates some macro to open up the built in Windows keyboard. The touchscreen will always operate more like a crappy mouse than an actual decent multitouch implementation with graphics and interface scaled correctly for this kind of device to be comfortable operated with your hands and 10 fingers. Sure it gives you the widest software compatibility but it's not really for this kind of device unless you really are someone who just wants Window 7 on a tablet.
