The Flames are in tough against 2 teams on a roll, I'm guessing it'll end up being something like Flames 1, Coyotes 2 and Refs 5. The refs have really been game changers lately and it'll be hard to compete against them. Hopefully the Flames don't face the refs in the first round or it could be a short one. The refs have really had the Flames number this year and are likely the reason for at least half of their losses so it's going to be tough to face them down the stretch.
Other teams, not too worried about but man the refs have dominated this season.

Not a must win in the big picture but an important game to try and get back on track as they must be close to .500 overall after the all star break and they need to get out of this funk before the playoffs.

While I knew this would be a tough week, its this game I have already checked off as a win.
They need it, they should win it and they know it.
Zero excuses. Even if its the same officiating crew they should be able to put up more than 2 against the Coyotes.
Win this one, come home, and start putting up the wins.

Just win.
And I know it's a back-to back, but please start Rittich again. He was outstanding last night.

Rittich played extremely well last night. That being said I'm certain Smith will get the start. We'll see.
Also, I would like to see the team get back to basics. Lines that they know work, even if they've been a bit stale of late. Lindholm back with Gaudreau & Monahan. Gio back with Brodie. And get Fantenberg back in with Andersson.

I'd like to see this as well, especially with the 1st line. Chucky had a great game last night, but I'd like to see Lindholm back up there and let them work themselves out of their funk together. The purple gatorade power will return. I can feel it. The called-back goal Johnny scored last night was a beauty, and there were a couple of really good shifts where that line looked like they were starting to feel it again.

2 goals or less in the last 7 games.
This is the major problem. Scoring can help overcome goaltending gaffs; the goalies have been left to defend wins lately. Let's not get in that habit. This could get concerning.
Calgary 3-1, with Tkachuk, Backlund and Gio scoring tonight.

Have a feeling the boys will come out with some real grit and killer instinct tonight.
I dont think they've played that bad these last 3 games. And I think their resolve will show tonight.
5-1 Flames. Gio, Johnny, Lindholm, Tkachuk and Bennett.

Don't have confidence in this team right now since they can't score goals at all right now. Trying to get 3 or 4 goals seems to be insurmountable.
Scoring line and PP need to actually take advantage of their opportunities. Can't screw up chances regularly, and can't rely on goalies to have to always bail them out.

This is a Smith start every time. You plan your 1A around Smith getting the Coyotes, and he always shows up to play his old team.
Would love to see Frolik come out of the game tonight for someone to bring something new to the lineup, as his influence seemed to slow a pretty effective line for us last night.

That's it. I'm going full pessimist for the rest of the year. We're done. It was a flash in the pan. We're gonna stumble to the finish line and get knocked out in 6 games to a lower seed in round 1. Probably Vegas.
This way if anything good happens I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Sportselect Info
Flames Win = 1.95
OT = 3.6
Coyotes Win = 2.6
Over 5.5 = 1.5
Under 5.5 = 1.95
If they play the Coyotes with the same intensity they had these last few games I feel this can be the slump buster. As it typically seems with losing streaks, you lose some you deserve to win before getting the right results. I thought they were good enough last night to at least pickup a point (BS reputation goalie interference call ). Tonight the flood gates open as they've had no troubles scoring against Arizona this season and they return home with a 5-3 win. GFG!
