Not understanding the demotion of Kylington...
I thought he was a real spark for the team. Maybe this isn't sitting well inside the dressing room too? Maybe I'm also speculating out my a**?

He does a lot of things well and skates like an elite guy.

However, he has been playing very sheltered minutes wise all season as well as not playing very well of late (like the majority of the team).

With the team likely wanting to bring Valimaki up sooner rather than later and the acquisition of soda pop, this is almost inevitable.

Im not sure that he wont go back down either....just til seasons end where he can get back to 20+ minutes a night and playing all situations.

He's not eligible to be sent down.

Nope, this is the dangerous case of the Flames acquiring a vet (Fantenberg) who is about to cost Kylington a spot despite being less effective.

And I'm not gonna read much into his game against the Leafs, it wasn't his best game but it was one game and he was probably our only defenseman not to be directly responsible for a goal against.

The only players eligible to play in the AHL for the rest of the year are those who were on the AHL roster at the trade deadline.

According to Brad Treliving, Curtis Lazar was papered down and back up to maintain his AHL eligibility, but only Lazar.

Ahhh...forgot about that.

Well he will have to compete for playing time then....and he will be on some kind of rotation until the post season im guessing.

Fantenberg's grandfather has flown into Calgary, so it makes sense that he'd draw in tomorrow.

Wouldn't read much into who draws in as the number 6 right now, they're trying to keep everyone fresh and lets not forget that Kylington was and may still be banged up.

He can be sent down. He is waiver exempt.

He cannot play in the AHL playoffs. That said, he won’t play in the AHL for the rest of the season.

Kylington, Mangiapane, and Andersson can't be sent down for the rest of the season even they are waiver exempt.

By CBA section 13.12 (j), players cannot be loaned to minor league clubs after the trade deadline unless they were:

1) recalled after the deadline either by normal recall or emergency recall
or
2) sent down for a LTI conditioning stint
or
3) recalled prior to the deadline but disabled at the deadline and spent at least 25% of the season on the active roster

Even though they are waiver exempt Kylington, Andersson, and Mangiapane cannot be loaned to a minor league club, because the Flames decided not to use recalls on them after the deadline like they did with Lazar.

In Lazar's case the Flames assigned him to the AHL roster before the deadline and then used a normal recall on him right after the deadline. Lazar then met the 1st scenario and was able to be assigned to Stockton today.
