Default Motorola PVR problem?

I have a Motorola dual tuner PVR. This problem happens when I search programs under Favourites.

I go to Favourites and scan the channels. When I go to Info to read about a program and when I'm finished and hit either Info again or hit the back arrow to return to Favourites, I think it should take me back to the same channel I was looking at, but it takes me back to favourites starting with Channel 2. In other words, if I was looking at Channel 201, it doesn't take me back to Channel 201 but to Channel 2.

Its's very annoying. Should doing these actions not take me back to the channel I was originally looking at? It's a waste of time because I then have to resume my scanning by manually returning to the channel I left off at.

Can anyone help me?

what is your firmware version? you can check that under cable box setup.

it should be 16.76 as I recall, if not, unplug for 5 minutes then plug back in. that should download the newest firmware, which should fix your problem.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I'll try an unplug-plug later. Something is being recorded right now. I'll let you know if it works. Many thanks.

I unplugged it and plugged it back in but it hasn't remedied the problem.

By cable box set up, do you mean: Main menu/DVR/Setup

I can't find firmware anywhere.

menu, setup, cable box setup, configuration

if you are OK with losing what you have on your hard drive, you can try this:

I'm currently having this issue as well. Very annoying indeed. I'll give the old firmware power pull a try later.

I got to Configuration and it shows Set to display but it isn't changable.

???

No, I'm not okay with losing the contents of my hard drive. I'd rather put up with this annoying problem than do that.

Any further advice I might try?

This is a problem that was introduced with the newest firmware, released a month or so ago. Everyone with a box was automatically upgraded, or else they wouldn't be getting any TV right now.

If you call the call center, they won't be able to help you, other than they will suggest that if you want the bug team to prioritize it, go to this page and submit feedback, so they know that it is bothering a lot of people.

Other bugs I know of are if you are in the search by title screen for a long time, it will leave the screen and change your channel (I think to channel 2)

I also noticed that it has stopped warning you that a one time recording will override a series recording you have set up.

There's a few known issues with the latest firmware which is surprising since Rovi only adds two or three new guide features every decade...

Shaw should have done some better testing though.
