Going to end short of my mileage from last year, projecting to hit just shy of 6500km this year. Down from 7375km last year. Biggest reason for the drop is probably our 2 week holiday out to the west coast, whereas last year we only got away for just one week here in Alberta.
Still a great year of riding, looking forward to 2022!

We got snow in Victoria so I went for a little frostbike ride on the cargo bike to hit 2000km on the year. Less than I’d hoped for, but still satisfying. Most of that was on said cargo bike, so that’s quite a bit of driving replaced.

Another year of the pandemic, and the great fall weather, let me ride my bike a lot. I'm at 10,356kms outside this year and another 6800kms on the trainer.
No real goals for next year. Just want to find new roads to ride and do more exploring.

According to strava I have a little over 3k in. I did mor mtn biking this summer, so shorter rides, and then there was about 40 days or so where I did not ride this fall.
These past few days it has been to cold to go and enjoy a fat bike ride
Edit: looked at strava and it reports a little over 100 rides - so on average each of my rides were about 30k
I follow tinker Juarez on strava and he rode 22,800 km this year on 337 rides - 68k per ride

Ahhh, I’m at 10,531 outside but only 3438 on zwift, missed my goal this year by about 25-30 hours

I’m seriously contemplating getting a Peloton to keep up my cycling in winter. I have a Fat bike however I am finding myself getting more and more uncomfortable in cold weather, or any weather that is not to my liking… ya I’m getting old.
Any red flags for this?

With this WFH stuff I'm not riding outside at all lately... it's amazing how just that NEED to get to work makes the riding outside in these cooler temps so much easier to just accept. At least I've been on the trainer a whopping 3x now in the last 2 weeks. Guess it's time to start rebuilding some base-butt callouses to avoid last seasons debilitating early-season bruised sit-bones!! (no joke).
On the flip side... crosstraining is a lot of fun too.

9150 km total for me this year, not bad. Not huge compared to some of your numbers, but I do a fair bit of mountain and fat biking, so lower total kms. Did 235 total rides, about 4.5 / week, I’m happy with that.
I don’t really have any goals, other than to keep seeing how much I can improve my fitness. I had pretty good results in the fondos that I got into this year, so it’s neat to see my improvement in the last few years since I got more serious about biking. Overall I’ll just keep doing road biking events, and getting together with friends and having fun on the mountain bike. And some fat biking (if it ever warms up enough) for fun just to make it through the winter.

Km's can be misleading, I changed my goals to hours on the bike a couple years ago. Find I enjoy my rides a lot more when I just want to be out for 2 or 3 hours vs doing a certain # of km's. Plus a two hour mountain bike might only be 25-30 km and more intense than a 60-70km bike ride in the same time

Synced https://www.statshunters.com to Strava for the final time this year to see where I landed.
Total Distance: 17378 km
Outside: 10356 km
Trainer: 7022 km
Elevation: 123315 m
Average Distance / Ride: 38.11km
Total Moving Time: 552 hours
Activities: 456
Biggest Ride: 176km
Biggest Elevation on a ride: 2388m
Activity Streak: 237 Days
Then they give you the real specifics / dumb stats.
Mount Everest climbs: 13.9 times
Trips Around the World: 0.434
Trips to the Moon: 0.045
I went the furthest distance on Saturdays but had the most activities on Wednesdays (Zwift race nights probably).
385 activities were 0 - 60km
63 were 60 - 120km
8 were 120 - 180km
If you're a Strava subscriber and like digging into stats it's a fun free site.

First year cycling, going for a few rides in late June on a Walmart special until late July when I got a real bike.
Ended the year with 2,905.8 kms of riding including a metric century outdoors, and I completed the Festive 500 on Zwift this morning.
Looking forward to getting after it a bit more in 2022 and really developing my fitness levels. I did sign up for the Badlands Grand Fondo. Not sure how good of an idea that was
Wish I would have taken up cycling years ago.

These are all great stats but the 237 days in a row is the most impressive to me, nice work, you’ll be flying again next spring

Anybody know anything about e-bikes, specifically for a senior?
My mom is in her 70s and is finally starting to slow down and she's interested in buying one so I told her I'd help her out... but I know nothing about them and doing some googling shows that there's a lot of conflicting reviews out there.
Do you guys have any recommendations/websites/resources? Any brands to avoid or seriously look at?

I'd suggest visiting the folks at BikeBike in Inglewood. Smaller shop, personal touch. Definitely geared to getting more people on bikes of all ages and abilities.

Budget will be the biggest factor as well. eBike prices are all over the place.

Second this.
I bought my Breezer from Sean (I think that's his name) last year and they have been my go-to for all my biking needs ever since.

There is a dedicated e-bike only shop in the East Village right on the river pathway. It's run by Bow Cycle. They might be able to help and they also the oldest and largest bike shop in Calgary so they have the most inventory.

Yup, Sean and Nadia. Great people, and they just re-arranged the shop. Looking forward to checking it out.

Anyone here use any of the indoor cycling training apps?
I'm mostly just interested in having interesting scenery on my tv while I cycle in my living..

If you're looking for more realistic scenery, you should check out https://fulgaz.com. It's less social than Zwift so if you don't care about those things it should do the trick for you.
