I like how a new player being well liked by our new coach AND excelling is viewed as a bad thing.

I am sick of below average BS. If Treliving signs a FA that is impactful than great. There are 400 Derek Ryan's in the NHL. This is nothing to get stoked about on the eve of July 1.

I'd be happy with 3.5 million or under. There's no way it's going to be 2.5.
Whether he's on the 3rd line or on the 4th, this is going to help in having a bottom six that can chip in offensively. Can roll four lines without having to worry about one being a black hole for offense.

My guess is $10M x 3 years.
On Friday I would have been mad about that...but then Reaves signed for 2 years and $2.75M per year and JVR signed for 5 years and $7M and you realize it’s not a $60M cap anymore.
Post Oilers and McDavid it means that elite players get $10M plus, good scoring guys get $7M plus and scrubs are going to get $2.5M.
It’s a new cap world.

Ryan may have been Peters' "Brouwer", but at least he produced and positively impacted his team, which hey - that's just a coach rewarding a player who has actually earned his opportunities.

And Who added Brouwer to the Flames again...

You have to be the grumpiest Flames fan I've come across. It's honestly hilarious how you get pissed off at all these moves without even doing 5 seconds worth of research on the players

Yeah, that was an awful signing no doubt. Brouwer was awful even before we signed him.
...but you can't write this one off just because we have the same GM, can you? Or have you just hit a point where you want Tree fired no matter what?

We had the worst bottom six in the NHL last year. This is a low impact signing that immediately upgrades it, adds a right handed centre who excels and face-offs, and neither the term or money is ridiculous as is the case most opening days of UFA.
You've had an outright bizarre hate-on for Treliving for years (calling him a slimy rat very early in his tenure here). You're now just blindly hating on anything he does devoid of context. When we combine this with you bragging about being rude to his face, it's really a wonder why anyone even engages with you at all.

He has 67 pts over the last two seasons - which ranks him 168th among forwards.
Two points less than Michael Frolik over that same time, more than Ferland, Jarnkrok, Strome, Eller, etc in similar games played.
The guy is not a top line forward but he’s a capable middle 6 forward, that is a RH shot, and an elite face off guy. All holes this team needed to fill.
It’s also been proven that he was clearly played like a 3rd liner that got 2nd unit power play time in Carolina and wasn’t holding back any younger players. So this crap you keep spewing about Peters playing favourites is made up because the results show he was effective in that ice time.
Sure I’d love to have signed Tavares but that wasn’t happening, even though this signing isn’t high profile it still does help fill some holes on our roster and is pretty low risk at 3 years.

I choose to be open minded about this providing the money isn't obscene. He seems like he can be useful even if he's not scoring which is more than I can say about some other players in the bottom six.

I'm not even stoked on it, in fact a few pages back in this exact thread I said that I'm not a fan of it if he's making much more than $3m/year.
But the fact is we need bottom six help almost as much as we need a top 6 winger. This signing at least addresses that.

You wouldn't want that Tavares anyways. He's just a coaches favourite, getting 19:56 of ice time, putting up 0.51 p/min.

Was going to say the same. Added two right shooting 55% + face off C's this off season.

Center depth actually exists now. May not have the Generational Centerman but will have Nashville levels of center depth. I like it.

Usually when teams invest in a 3 year deal in a 31 year old they are not a ho hum bottom 6 forward. This is foolish. Bad term bad number on this deal if this info is accurate.

Are you at the point of just hating everything “Bradley” does and waiting for everyone to fail?
I can’t imagine being a “Fan” of the Flames so much that I hope they lose.
