We have come a LOOOONG way baby!
To be fair, in events that existed in the 88 Olympics, we have only 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronze in these games.

True, but that's still a pretty substantial improvement over 88.

it was amateurs vs pros/cheats back then

Gaetan Boucher's 3 medals in 84 are probably the greatest Canadian Olympic achievement ever.

Just reading about this. Basically, this is an American gaming her way into the Olympics.

The Olympics requires a certain number of top 30 finishes, so Elizabeth Swaney flew herself to a bunch of events where there was less than 30 competitors. She can’t do any tricks, but can essentially get down the half pipe without falling. At all the events, she would be near last (sometimes competitors would fall, and she’d finish ahead of them). She was 13th out of 15 in one event, where all of the worlds best were at a different event on the same day.

Obviously, she wouldn’t be one of the top 4 for the American team, so she tried to find a country that would send her to the Olympics. She’s competed for Venezuela, and now at the Olympics for Hungary - through some distant Hungarian lineage.

Here is video of her run:

Could be intentional - it is for swimming. Intentionally lowering precision allows ties where higher precision could be decided by things outside the athlete's control (like changing track conditions, perhaps).

Wow. Have some respect for the competition. And yourself.
