I equate this question as asking a guy who manages a group of accountants working at Suncor, and then blaming them for climate change. Just an ignorant question, especially on the heels of his explanation of his role at the consultancy.
I strongly urge people to invest the hour and a half of your time to listen to what he has to say. This is someone who understands the system, how to change it, and the daunting task to do just that. This is one of the best interviews on the system and systemic change I think I've seen.

I thought the video clip was supposed to show him being a corporate shill. The question, nor his answer convinced me of that at all. Maybe that wasn't the point of the clip?
He is obviously a very smart guy, and it would be nice to have someone smart in charge again. I also don't want a guy who is running on going to war with corporations. I want a guy who balances the interest of the corporations, the regular people, society and the environment. That can include listening to corporate leaders. That's what I see when I listen to him, and I don't think that makes him a corporate shill.

And elections aren’t debate offs, they’re money offs. If Pete is a corporate shill, then Biden is a corporate sock puppet.

But thats all I was referring to in my initial post. It was debate only and not Pete as the democratic nominee. HELL NO for 2020.
Like can you imagine if you had Obama vs Cheeto? Orange blood bath.

It's tough to talk or debate with Trump supporters when their leader isn't even based in reality. How do you have a conversation with people that will listen to, and believe, stuff that is completely made up?

It's true you can't debate with Trump/Trumpers
Anything negative is fake news even if Trumps says it in his own words

The difference between taking him 'seriously' and taking him 'literally'.

Two big Supreme Court wins for voters and Democrats in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. I'm legitimately shocked.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/28/polit...ays/index.html
Quote:
The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the counting of ballots in North Carolina received up to nine days after the election as long as the ballots are postmarked by Election Day, a victory for Democrats in another key state.
Republicans and the Trump campaign had asked the court to reinstate a deadline set in June by the state Legislature that allowed ballots to be received only up to three days after Election Day.
The ruling came shortly after the court left in place for now a Pennsylvania state Supreme Court decision that allowed the counting of ballots received up to three days after the election, even if there is no legible postmark.
Justice Amy Coney Barrett took no part in both the North Carolina and Pennsylvania decisions because she had not had time to fully review the briefs, the court said.
|
Quote:
North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein praised the court's order, calling it a "huge win."
"The Court upheld the State Board of Elections' effort to ensure that every eligible vote counts, even during a pandemic," he said in a statement.
There were two separate challenges, one brought by the Trump campaign and other Republicans and a second brought by Republican North Carolina legislators.
Tuesday's orders did not specify a vote count. In both, Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Clarence Thomas noted their dissent. It would have taken five justices to grant the Republicans' request.
Election law expert Rick Hasen said there are some reasons why either Chief Justice John Roberts or Justice Brett Kavanaugh may not have sided with their conservative colleagues.
He noted that the case was more complicated by procedural issues than other recent voting rights challenges before the justices. There may have also been an inclination not to change the rules too close to the election.

That is good news but Biden will have it won before having to worry about those votes

thought i'd share this....
the couple that used to live behind us moved back to alberta a few years ago. they still keep in close contact with our neighbours across the street.
i was chatting with our 'across the street' neighbours last night. our 'alberta neighbours' hosted a thanksgiving dinner.. a total of 12 people. well, i guess one of the guests was asymptomatic and now all 12 people that were at that one thanksgiving dinner are sick with covid. i hope our 'alberta neighbours' do ok - they are both seniors and are really good people who we enjoyed getting to know over 10+ years.

Does that mean they all come back in a few years, or terrorize another poor planet?

That sucks. For the sake of clarity, are they all actually sick with covid? None are/were asymptomatic?
Edit: actually, as noted above, this is off topic and should go in a covid thread. If discussion continues I'll move the posts, or we can all just move on I guess.

Missed this one earlier. Holy projecting with the Burisma stuff:
https://www.justsecurity.org/71694/t...case-timeline/
TL;DR: Trump gets paid a bunch of money by Erdogan's buddy to throw his name on some buildings, including while in office. Turkey has been begging Biden and Obama to let a guy accused of helping a Turkish bank illegally funnel money past US sanctions on Iran to keep their nuclear program. Biden said no. Now Erdogan hires Trump's personal friend and major fundraiser for $125k a month to "enhance US-Turkey relations". Trump starts firing people, conveniently derailing the case.
Oh, one of the Turkish guys is being defended by Rudy tuck-it-in-untuck-it-tuck-it-in-untuck-it Giuliani.
I used to think shows like House of Cards were heavily dramatized...

Trump going on an unhinged twitter meltdown in the middle of the night.
His last tweet posted at 3 am EST, basically acknowledging he will take the election results to the Supreme Court and will only lose if the conservative judges dissent.
