Everything about this season is awesome. Randy getting a full on sitcom, China, Towelie, parodying No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood. And they’ve been nailing the current events stuff out of the park.
I had no idea it is trans awareness week. So I guess the new episode controversy is positive in at least one way. But, in true South Park fashion, it pissed off a lot of people.
The Halloween Special sure felt like classic South Park. Outrageous, nonsensical metaphor set against Randy's antics.
As for the most recent episode, I was certainly nervously laughing until the end when, as usual, they smack you in the face with the message. I'm guessing the outraged folks just settled into that early on and didn't bother with the nuance.

The controversy and reaction sort of undercuts the end of the show about the PC babies having grown up... but whatever. I'm mostly just glad that they continue to not give a #### and just do whatever episode they think is going to be funny. Regardless, for me, I'm more baffled by the whole board gaming side of the episode. Are Matt and Trey big board game geeks?

I don’t understand how that was controversial. The message was “maybe this is a nuanced issue, not black and white”. How does that piss anyone off on any side of the topic?
The latest episode is definitely in my top 5 favourite of all time. To be able to pull that off when so many other shows just dip towards the end (Looking at you Big Bang and Modern Family, Office, etc..) is just amazing and speaks to the talent of these two.
I haven't laughed that much in an episode in a long time.

The whole 2nd half of the season after the Tegridy Farms bit was classic south park. Santa and Jesus doing coke, Macho Man Heather, the cable repair guys, "Spice Melange", it was all completely wacky and brilliant
whole season was excellent IMO. Few weaker episodes sprinkled in (the goo episode), but in general really strong. Loved the meta elements and was happy that the Tegridy arc didn't span over the whole season.
Particularly loved the "Band in China" epidode (the metal band at the autumn fest!) and "Turd Burglars", which was ####ed up to say the least (the spice melange!)
shoutout to Scott Malkinson. "You're exactly my type - type 1 diabetes!"
I really enjoyed that season. Probably the best in a half decade. South Park more than any other TV show has shown an ability to re-invent itself to stay relevant. Band in China and Christmas Snow were classics and there were not any really unfunny episodes.
