Especially with how much money is owed to AV, makes sense.

I was jealous that Philly signed AV but he really didn’t do anything for them.

Yeo being the interim coach is a similar situation as Geoff Ward. If Philly names him as the permanent head coach, that’s a different discussion.

AV to Yeo seems like a downgrade on paper, but I guess it's pretty clear that AV wasn't working.

I agree with those who figure Yeo is interim only. An experienced HC who’s right there is a no-brainer while they do a fast HC search. I would guess both Torts and Green are on the list.

Wow, Philly is a mystery to me. AV is obviously a very good coach and even he couldn't get that team going.
I think maybe the biggest issue is their highly rated young Dmen were just over rated. Provorov and Sanheim just haven't turned into what everyone thought they'd turn into.

Maybe Philadelphia is just not very good.

At minimum an example of why change for the sake of change just doesn't always work. I say that as someone who wanted change from the Flames this off-season. But Philly got a lot of praise in the summer for making some big moves, while the Flames were criticized for not doing that.
Early days still, but certainly hasn't worked in Philly.

They were the off season darlings for a few folks on here.
I wonder if this improves the Gaudreau signing chances here. If it’s a tire fire there, or a new rebuild, does he really want to go.

Yup lots of posters on here were praising Philly for making "bold" moves even if it meant losing the trade (The Gostisbehere to Ristolaining "upgrade").
And trashing the Flames for doing nothing.
Well right now it looks like that wasn't the right strategy from Philly

I think the Rasmus Ristolainen trade might be the worse trade I've ever seen. Bad at the outset and bad in hindsight.
If I were a Flyers fan that would be enough for me to take a year or two off of following the team.

Was there a lot of praise? Seems like the Ristolainen trade was mostly panned in this thread:

I couldn't find the Gostisbehere trade thread, but I remember it being considered a big win for Arizona.

Myself, I was interested to see what Risto could do outside Buffalo and now I know.

All the moves they made this offseason really didn't address their main issue last season which was the worst goaltending in the NHL. Hart has kind of bounced back as he's been a lot better but now the reshaped team can't score at all.

My understanding is there was also a sizeable rift between some of the players and the coach.

Geoff Molson himself will probably phone AV and ask him to come to MTL if his new GM doesn’t.
A proven Francophone coach on the open market is a no brainer for a club that is in shambles.

Didn't Vignault start in Montreal?

Would he want to go back to that fish bowl? It's probably the most difficult market to coach. Would they want him as he had a losing record over 3+ seasons when he coached them last and Gorton fired him with the Rangers.
