Appleton hasn't seen his scoring stats decline each and every year since he's been in the league. DeBrusk scored 43 points as a rookie, followed by 42, 35, and 14 in the COVID season (prorated to 28 per 82 games). So far this year, he's on a 30-point pace. It's got to be a concerning trend.
Also, Appleton is making one-fourth of DeBrusk's salary.
