WestJet announces service to London-Heathrow starting Spring of 2022. They also indicate they will continue to operate the YYC-London Gatwick service. No firm details on flights per week and flight times yet.
YYC just introduced a reservation program for CATSA security screening at Security D, called YYC Express. Sounds like it's similar to Nexus, but you do not need a membership. Just reserve a time online and show up at the designated lane.

I still think people who travel at least once per year should sign up for NEXUS as it is so damn quick - but, i also don't want people to catch on and make that line longer.
What do they mean by expedited security? Will it actually entail a smoother process or is the idea that you dont have to wait in a big line?

I let my NEXUS lapse because it was absolutely useless at YYC. With no dedicated NEXUS security line, what was the point?
I agree NEXUS is garbage at YYC, especially outbound. But I keep NEXUS just for travelling in the US - using the trusted traveller number for the Pre-Check at US Airports has probably saved me hours of waiting (in LAX alone), and numerous times of having to remove my shoes and belt. Worth it IMHO.

No, this is wrong.
Nexus is useless, not worth the money (especially at YYC). Don't bother with it.

really regret signing up for Nexus, the hassle of the forms, interview, fees for basically zero benefit compared to the standard security line. it's barely a step up from signing up for PORTpass to be perfectly honest, and at least that one is supporting a local business.

I've found NEXUS to be really helpful getting past security lines throughout Canada. It also helped travel through airports in the US when I was on business. I'd get it again for sure.

Interesting flight on the way to us today, a HiFly A330-900 bringing Afghan refugees to Calgary. I also believe this is the first time we have had an A330-900 visit YYC. ETA 1105.

Footage of the HiFly A330-900 arriving yesterday (and other planes like the RAF C-17), they took quite the crosswind on 17L and planted 'er pretty good.

YYC ground crews (ATS) might be going on strike. This could be ugly for WestJet and other airlines who contract to ATS. WestJet should have just kept their own crews. That was probably a bad business decision.
