"With the fifth selection, Vancouver selects from the London Knights... Olli Juolevi."
Thanks Jim.

The only way that pick makes sense is if its immediately followed up by video footage of Benning's family being cut free from being duct-taped to chairs in the basement of a local Boston Pizza.

Me watching the draft at home:
Benning: "...from the London Knights..."
Me: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU..."
Benning: "...Olli Juolevi."
Me: "...CK YEAH!!!"

Good hire unfortunately. The hole may be too deep this season but Boudreau will turn things around. Real shame they fired Benning. He's been a gift to fans of other teams in the division. If you combined him and Chiarelli you probably still don't have a competent GM. Thanks for the memories I guess.
Boudreau really seems to love coaching. I'm assuming that coaching the Canucks will fix that pretty quickly.

That first round was such a roller coaster as the above followed the low of seeing Puljujarvi drop to Edmonton - who was widely considered to be the consensus #3.
It is also interesting to think about who the Flames would have taken if Vancouver picked Tkachuk. I strongly believe they would hvae taken Sergachev who would have been a fine pick.
Boston, who blew the year with the firsts, sure hit a home run with McAvoy at #14.
