His wife wants to live here, and he's had some blood clot issues (which might have forced a retirement if he were playing full-time).

Not a bad situation for Stone. He'll draw in when there's an injury on the right side, ideally even win a Cup without having to relocate.

Yeah, I think we're pretty lucky to have a guy like Stone, willing to accept the role he has.
He's clearly a guy who's chosen a lifestyle rather than chasing as much money as possible, which you have to respect.

IMO Sutter thinks he has the top 6-9 guys to get him his three goals. He wants the bottom six not to cost him 3.

If your top 6 guys get you 3 goals a game, that’s an average for each player of 41 goals per season. If it’s your top 9, it’s 27 goals per season.

Now, Calgary’s top 9 forwards are actually scoring at about a 2.7 goals per game pace, which is actually quite spectacular.

I forget that Calgary is leading the NHL in goal differential.

They are getting offensive production from its top 9 without sacrificing defensive responsibility.

I tend to think that is exactly what Sutter is thinking.
