I for one am happy to see Franklin in the East Division, I was worried that he might end up on the Riders especially with the familiarity that Chris Jones has with him.

The Lions were probably going to release Chris Williams. There was no reason to be in a hurry to trade for him. The last thing the Alouettes need is another american receiver in his 30's... who drops the ball a lot.
@TSNDaveNaylor:
Confirmed. Lions and Als have agreed to deal that sends K/WR Chris Williams to Montreal and DL Gabe Knapton to BC. #CFL #Als #Lions

Trevor Harris extends in Ottawa for 1 yr.

Trevor Harris has signed a contract extension that will see him back with the Ottawa REDBLACKS for the 2018 season, the club announced Wednesday.

Quote:
“Trevor was one of the top quarterbacks in the CFL last year and bringing him back was one of our top priorities this off-season,” said REDBLACKS GM Marcel Desjardins. “We’re very pleased that Trevor will remain a REDBLACK moving forward.”

I think the point is that if he was a free agent Montreal is likely at the bottom of his of preferable list of destinations seeing it's where players careers go to die. Trading for him was likely the only way they could guarantee his services.

That's great news for the league as it gets Braley one step closer to out of the league and that's as stable of ownership as the Argos could ever have.

I'm not sure I get the connection...Braley hasn't owned the Argos for a few years...MLSE is buying it from two of the three partners in MLSE...

Edmonton has released their 2018 schedule; I've heard the rest of the schedule will be here today or tomorrow.

I had thought that as well but they announced on the Fan yesterday this sale meant he was finally out of the picture so I wasn't sure. I realize he gets crapped on due to how he kind of left the Argos to die but he at least stepped up and purchased them and has been an important figure for the league over the last 30 years owning three different teams.

LMAO Reed is the gift that keeps on giving. He may as well name himself the coach for 2018 as those 2 were the last in the running to be named the coach after being interviewd.
HerbZukowsky1:
So, not only has Mark Washington withdrawn his name, according to TSN’s David Naylor, I heard Tommy Condell was told he won’t be #AlsMTL next head coach. This is messed up

And schedule out for the Stamps/the league...nice to see that they are doing this months earlier than in the past:

Looks like Kavis with a shocker and will name Mike Sherman the Head Coach.
@MTLAlouettes:
The Alouettes will make an important announcement tomorrow that will be streamed live on our Facebook page at 11 a.m. 👉 https://t.co/8VzphfJmYf #AlsMTL https://t.co/z3OeV0m9Fb

Sherman was actually OK in his first few years in Green Bay but lost the team towards the end. He went 4-12 with Brett Favre that last season which was unacceptable.
He was very mediocre as a college coach and as OC in Miami IIRC.

I think the bigger issue with Sherman and the Packers was Sherman the GM. I actually thought he was a decent coach, but he was a terrible GM. Should never have been given the duel role.
Still a pretty interesting hire. pretty mediocre track record since leaving the Packers at the NFL, NCAA and even the high school level.
