Yeah, La Stella and Le Vieux Pin are my two favorite Okanagan wineries. I used to clearly prefer La Stella, and I really like their recently introduced Sangiovese, but Le Vieux Pin grows on me more and more. Their wine maker sure knows what she's doing.
I've never had any whites from Moraine as far as I recall, but I do remember them having a really good value red, probably a Bordeaux blend though I can't recall as it's been a couple of years since I tried it.

Margaret River is my go to Cab region. Nowhere else gets the same intensity of fruit together with herbal aroma. Absolutely love it.
Although things like Yellow Tail do a lot of damage to the general perception of Aus as a quality part of the wine world, the quality and intensity to be found there is great.

Have you tried La Stella Leggiero Chardonnay? They have a blog post on their website that mentions they were inspired by Chards from the cool, high altitude Alto Adige region of northern Italy. Alto Adige is one of our main comparable regions to Salmon Arm which is the reason we are trying Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon. We're also looking at Lagrein as one of our red options to test. Anyway just curious if you have any more insight on cool-climate Chardonnay?

Yeah it was good... at first I was a bit disappointed but I think it just needed more air as it was much fuller flavoured the next day. Less oak then Cali Cabs and not as much cassis I noticed.

Had Indigenous Simo at my parents house for Christmas dinner. We went there this summer and tried a few of their wines. This was one was fantastic. It was soft and balanced. Originally bought because I enjoyed other wines there and it was a really cool bottle.

- Robert Mondavi Cab Sauv aged in Bourbon Barrels 2016, Monterey County, California. (Just really curious).
- Bourgeois Sancerre Rose Pinot Noir, 2015 (Probably will serve with Bouillabaisse when wife's fam shows up in a few days).
- J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay 2016, Arroyo Seco, California (Turkey dinner).
- Masi Costasera Amarone 2012 (First Amarone, very excited.)
- Marionette Wild 2016, Salmon Arm, BC (Merlot with natural fermentation).
- Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay 2015, Sonoma Coast, California (Turkey dinner pt 2).
- Tinhorn Creek Pinot Gris, 2016, Okanagan Valley, BC (Enjoyed tonight with brie appy and pulled pork dinner. Notes of green apple, citrus, and spice. Lots of flavour with dry finish. Cheapest of the bunch easily but holding it's own so far).
What you all drinking this Christmas CP?

How was the 2012 Amarone? I have 3 bottles waiting.

Just want to bump this to say that zyn.ca seems to have real nice selection and pricing, and they will deliver for free in Calgary if you buy over $350. Their prices seem competitive with Costco (not quite, but at least competitive). Anyone aware of any other online distributors that are worth looking at?

Anatolia, new Turkish restaurant across from City Hall has free corkage until they get a liquor licence.
Food was tasty and good value.
On further research it has been open for over a year and has always been bring your own wine? How can they make money without liquor?

Good to know. I've been noticing it for awhile now when I've gone to shows at Arts Commons and was wondering if it might be a good place to try for a pre-show meal.

If you like pinot noir, Belle Glos Dairyman - wow! Took it to Alloy on Saturday. Costco has the lower end Belle Glos, which is also very good.

Read about this as being a good value red (Syrah/Grenache blend) and found it at Costco for $18.49. Went back and bought a case. A good summary;

Thanks for this recommendation. Had a gift card for WP and spent it on a bottle of Dairyman. Agreed that it is very good. That being said, we also like the Clark and Telephone and as long as we can get that at Costco for significantly cheaper, that will be our choice.
Short version: both really good bottles of wine. Buy what your wallet dictates.

Oooh - making me rely on my memory. I paid $70 for Dairyman. I believe the Clark and Telephone is $60ish (vs. $40ish at Costco?)

ZYN.ca has Dairyman for 60 or just under - FYI. Yes, C&T is 38 at Costco. Sadly, pinot doesn't really keep, so there is only so much we can drink.

A wine recommendation from a friend of ours, who is a former Napa exec. Tried it last night and it is superb, and a very reasonable $46 at ZYN.

My Wine Club did Spanish wines and tapas last Friday. All these were good:
I think Formiga was the most popular. Laxas was an excellent white wine IMO.
