Are you actually asking people if they'd feel different if it was the team the cheered for? I'd guess that of course people will feel and react differently.

But... would I still think it's a hand pass? Absolutely.

Someone in the reffing union really wants SJ to win. Never seen so many missed called in favor of one team. Pathetic.

For the record, I don't think there's any conspiracy - the Sharks just collectively have a horseshoe up their asses when it comes to these calls. At this point their cup run is tainted in my view and I hope it just blows up in their faces. Like, a game 7 OT where a ref straight up grabs the puck and throws it in the sharks' net or something.

I really don't think more coach's challenges is the answer though. I think we really have to go the video official approach. Put a ref in the press box, and let him radio down to the guys on the ice if he thinks a call was missed. No more delay tactics by coaches, no more inconsistency from call to call.

I'd much rather the game last an extra 10 minutes and they get the call right.

Its 2019. No reason someone should win a game like that.

There is no reason the ops room can't or shouldn't assist the refs. They already do it when a goal goes in and play continues. They simply confirm and call the score keeper to sound the horn to stop the play. You could even kill the offside challenge since the egregious error that brought in the challenge could easily be lumped into the war room assisting on scoring plays.

The officiating has become so bad in the NHL, it makes the games unwatchable for me.

I don't think the NHL will do the same for any of the blown calls made these playoffs

the NFL at least shows accountability through public admissions rather than the NHL's wall of silence

One of many who is too boring; thinks that there should be rules regarding grammar in custom user titles, and also makes moderators wonder if there is a charachter limit here. I mean come on- you would think that would be a limitation in the software

Frequently in boxing or MMA when there is a disqualification.

More video review will make the game worse. This is another "Matt Duchene Was Offside" moment - a clear, cut and dry play that was called incorrectly, and leads to the league instituting a rule that ends up being horrible in practice.

Frankly, I'd like them to get rid of literally all "situation room in Toronto" video review. Give the referees access to a tablet at the timekeeper's area to take a quick look at the play, if the referee feels a second look is warranted or in the event of a coach's challenge. A goal will be overturned only if, in the referee's opinion, he missed a clear event that would have led to a different outcome if he had noticed it (i.e. a hand pass he didn't see, or guy preventing the goalie from moving, or a player obviously offside by a mile), and even then, only if - again, in the referee's opinion - it clearly led to the goal. In other words, I don't care if you were offside by a mile or if there was a clear hand pass that was missed, if the play continued afterwards and there were a bunch of subsequent passes or changes of possession or what have you, such that the goal wasn't a direct result of the missed call.

That's my proposal. I know the objection will be "referees screw up as it is and you're giving them even more control". Well, it's up to the league to decide whether referees are incompetent and get rid of those who are - that's a separate issue. But even good referees will make mistakes, and everyone's just going to have to live with the fact that bad calls will happen sometimes. More video review is not going to make the NHL better. It didn't for offside, it didn't for goalie interference, and it won't for any other call they have to make.

Bookies = more reasonable than NHL officiating. This is what we've come to.

I understand the distaste to long reviews. Which is why I like the idea that refs would have ~1 min to look at a replay. It would remove all obvious plays like this one and the 5min major. Where every single person at home knows undoubtably the refs missed a call.

If it’s close, stick with the call on the ice. Simple.

More reviews, but for significantly less time. I don’t care if someone’s skateblade is 1 mm off the ice.

Just have a person/ref upstairs.

Not only is he watching the game to pick out the obvious misses on goals right away, but while the players are celebrating and lines are changing he can look at the replays of the goal and buzz down. If he can't see anything between goal scored and puck dropped then carry on.

Assuming the guy upstairs doesn't see that hand pass live (maybe he saw a squirrel and got distracted) 10 seconds of replay shows it clearly. Easy call down.

Well, it’s more of a promotion with conditions and play through requirements.

No supplemental discipline for the Blais hit. Not sure I agree. Braun was reaching but that shouldn't make it OK for Blais to crank him in the head.

Also the 4 officials from game 3 are not going to do any more games this year.

For those keeping track at home, that's now two sets of officials that are sitting out the rest of the playoffs for gift wrapping games for San Jose.

But yeah, no problem with the refs, right Gary?
