Apparently Roloff is back with Koln. After all that effort I put into #### talking his contract being the reason we couldn't re-sign Vliet..

I'm okay with this though - I don't think we needed to use up an international spot on a backup keeper. Hopefully that allows us to go get an effective, offensive-minded midfielder from abroad somewhere.

Unless some major signings are coming, I like our odds for the Wildrose Cup and not much else.

Trophy stays with Cavalry and the Foot Soldiers for now. Long term, depends on what the two supporters groups want to do. Don't think there's anyone left in Edmonton to even have the conversation with any more.

Whoa. Didn't pay attention earlier, isn't that one of the top teams in Germany?

Roloff is one of 4 keepers signed to Koeln’s first team at the moment. There’s a possibility of one of their top 2 keepers moving on so I think his return to Koeln is likely with that in mind. I would put him 4th in the pecking order at the moment so a return to Koeln’s reserve team, which is largely a U-23 team, or a loan might be in the cards.

Roloff came to Cavalry from Koeln’s U-23s which he had come through. He’s stated in an interview with German media that he signed with Cavalry for his first shot at first team, professional football. I think he took a calculated risk with Carducci recovering from cancer treatment at the time. I think Cavalry had to move fast when news of Carducci’s diagnosis came out, hence signing an international.

As for Koeln, they’ve been a bit of a yo-yo team the last couple decades but have had strong showings the past 2-3 seasons. They’re one of Germany’s most traditional and well supported clubs. It will be interesting to see where Roloff goes from here. It was tough to judge him based on his limited appearances. Cavalry didn’t start the season well when he was the starter so I found it tough to assess his performances.

I hope that Yao wins player of the year, I know he probably isn't around, but he was fun to watch.

Interesting that Carducci had a couple MLS clubs pursuing him before his diagnosis. If he plays as well as he always does this upcoming season, dude could be a candidate for a healthy transfer at some point in the future for Cavalry (Tommy even says this could be a possibility at some point). Love to hear that stuff - sucks for the Cavs, but terrific for the player and the league!

It always amazes me how many eyes are seemingly always watching our club, which is terrific. The secret is now out about where the CPL now is.

Draw for the Canadian Championship will be on January 31. Tournament goes from April 18 to June.

14 teams; 3 MLS, 8 CPL, L1BC, L1O and PLSQ winners. Toronto and Vancouver Whitecaps get a bye. I've heard there will no longer be a regionalized tournament, so Cavalry could play FC Montreal or could play Vaughan Azzurri in the first round.

Shome hasn't exactly lived up to the promise he showed as an 18 year old, but still a decent signing for this level. I'll take it!

I think that's a solid mid-field signing. I am going to guess he's the Elliot Simmons replacement.

Decent signing for sure. With him, Daley and Trafford I think we're set at centre mid. Now sign some ####ing attackers...

To date the plan has been to lob balls up the middle half of the field. I hope that whoever they acquire they're a big body who can settle those balls down. Watching short players fight for a 50/50 air ball is frustrating.

With Gabriel Bitar signing in VFC, I'm really hoping Tobias Warschewski is on the Cavs radar for our attack. Big forward who can put the ball in the net. Looked great on FCE last year with seven goals and a highlight reel finish on one of them.
