I spotted a Huevos Rancheros poster in the latest episode (remember them?), and the sisters talk about how they wish they could get a gig at the Republik.

I'm a little younger than the Tegan and Sara demographic but I consider myself lucky to have been old enough to at least been inside the downtown A&B sound once just on the verge of it closing.
It still leaves an impression on me today with how majestic that record store was inside.
Here's an Imgur album with rare photos. I don't remember it being that green though. I thought it was dark grey. https://imgur.com/gallery/vaBvE
Was this where Bank and Baron was for a hot minute like 10 years go?

I'm younger than Tegan and Sarah too, but I spent a lot of time at that A&B. It's funny how downtown Calgary felt so urban to me as a kid and it felt so grown up to be down there on my own or meeting friends at the A&B. It definitely had a sort of majestic and authoritative vibe inside, like it was the center of music culture, or like a church of music culture. At least that's how it felt to me at that time. It wasn't my favourite record store (my favourite was the one in Kensington that I can't remember the name of anymore), but it did have a unique experience.

I really enjoyed the show. Worth watching for the Calgary nostalgia alone but the acting was great and the storytelling was too. Enjoyed the change of perspective during some of the scenes.

Their mom said she needed to "pay the hydro bill" this isn't Ontario.
And they made mention of wearing their shoes in their bedrooms in the winter. this isn't America
Also recognize all the outdoor sets and they are struggling a little bit with geography, but it's pretty good, rare that you grew up so close to a shows setting that you can pick up on where they are / what their doing...
Also 7-digit license plates weren't a thing then, nor were 403 area codes (advertised locally), however when the girls did dial on the phone, they did only dial 7 digits
First day of school and all the trees are early Spring "Dead".
Summer party and its pitch black out at 10pm and everyone is in Winter clothes. lol
Overall I enjoyed the series, been following them for a very long time.
So much familiarity in that video. The reporter, Brent Kawchuk--"Mr. Kawchuk"--was my grade six teacher. He was a substitute early on in the year, and ended up staying fulltime.
I also went to Crescent Heights at the same time as Tegan and Sarah, although I had no idea who they were.

I find watching this series super bizarre. I was - am - in the same group of friends as Sara and Tegan. I knew them quite well in high school and remained acquaintances with them throughout my twenties. So I know who most of the people portrayed are supposed to be, although I think some are sort of amalgams of a couple different people, or loose representations.
It's sort of creepy watching my friend-group streamed on Amazon. I was too tangential a friend to appear on the series (I hope!) but yeah - some of those people were my closest friends in high school.

They have mentioned that the series is meant more to be about growing up as outsiders (and having to simultaneously rely on and distance from your twin) rather than being completely biographical.
Have you read their book? I assume you'll find the more accurate portrayal of your friends?
