The player who gave him the most trouble in Shanghai was Vasek, who really should have won the opening set (Pops had five set points). I'm not sure what's in the water in Russia these days (aside from radioactive particles), but Medvedev, Khachanov, and Rublev are some fine, young players.

Not just Medvedev (though he’s certainly the furthest along), but the way Yogurt and Fraud confidently dismissed a couple of goats last week, it feels like the mental barriers and aura of invincibility are crumbling bit by bit. I think next year, Father Time finally serves for the match.

I think Medvedev is certainly the closest one to win a major right now out of the next Gen. I think Australian and US Open will be his best chance. I'm going to say Novak wins Wimbledon and Nadal wins the French but the other two are anyone's to win. I say Next Gen wins one slam next year.

Felix woke up today to a new career high ranking of #17. As for Canadians in action this week, Shapo and Brayden Schnur are playing in Sweden at the Stockholm Open while Vasek, Peter Polansky, and Filip Peliwo are playing at the ATP Challenger event in Las Vegas.

An all-Canadian battle Wednesday at the Challenger event in Las Vegas as Peter Polansky takes on Vasek Pospisil. Denis doesn't play until Thursday in Stockholm and his opponent is young Aussie Alexei Popyrin.

Janko Tipsarevic (aka DJ Tipsy) beat Fabio Fognini 6-1 6-1 at the Stockholm Open earlier today. As Girly would say, what kind of tennis is that?

Shapo wins the first set 6-4 over Popyrin - Not the greatest set of tennis from Denis, but he did enough to get the break to take the opening set.

Shapo advances to the quarter-finals 6-4 7-6 but certainly far from a vintage performance from Denis. He has a golden opportunity for his maiden ATP title as Fognini and Dimitrov have been dispatched, but he will have to play much better if he wants to hold the trophy on Sunday.

funny, while the Fedal pep talk at Laver cup seemed to inspire Zverev to greater heights (at least temporarily), it maybe had the opposite effect on Fognini.

Vasek has just advanced at the ATP Challenger event in Las Vegas with a 6-4 6-1 win over Mitchell Krueger. Keep it going Pops!

I found this picture in an old photo album and thought it was cool, was an exhibition match between Lendl and Conners at the Dome in the 80s.

Stebe played better in the 2nd set, but Denis advances to his 5th semi-final of 2019 with a 6-0 6-3 win.
