Kent Nilsson may have been the most talented Flame ever, but he just didn't have the drive or toughness. In fact didn;t Gretzky say he was the most talented player he ever saw?
Fleury would have his number retired and likely be a hall of famer if not for his antics. Fleury for sure.

Fleury was such a tenacious SOB that he wins out. Nilsson had so much talent, if he had Theo's drive he could have been an all time great.
Surprised Brian Bradley is even on the ballot but I'm sure someone really edgy will throw a vote at him.

It's a real shame that Nilsson had so much skill but the work ethic of a narcoleptic tree sloth.

A young Theoren Fleury caught on Lethbridge TV in Kalispell, MT made me not only a Flames fan for life, but a hockey fan, through and through.
I am not a Fleury apologist, but his talent and passion were undeniable. Still love watching the old Fleury highlights

I know not everyone agrees with me but imo, Fleury is one of the greats of all time. His story is amazing. This guy was a fighter from a very young age and he willed himself into what should be a HOF career.
Love the guy. Warts and all.

I will echo many of the same sentiments..
Nilsson is the single most offensively talented player this organization has ever see, and IMO, its not even close. Unfortunately his desire and give ##### level hurts his stock.
Theo, warts and all, was part of the most successful era this team ever experienced and then was by far the best player in the start of the dark years. For both his tenacity and longevity, he gets the nod.

regarding Brian Bradley- obviously he's in over his head here but still an interesting player- he moved on to have a useful career, and some big seasons with the expansion lightning
but an under-sized guy who came around in the midst of a roughly 5 year stretch where the Flames drafted (or signed as college free agents ) a host of forwards: Quinn, Roberts, Hull, Makarov, Hrdina, Otto, Nieuwendyk, Berezan, Ranheim, Kromm, Patterson, Beers, etc etc
sure they weren't ever all here at the same time but there just wasn't room for everyone, given that there were also some pretty darn good established veterans kicking around

Goddam it. I didn't think this would be such a hard choice.
Magic Man (Nilsson) was such an incredible player, but he only played at 75% capacity most of the time. If he had Fleury's motor and drive, he would have been one of the best players to ever play in the NHL.
Fleury had personal demons that are obviously not all his fault (Graham James incident), but he has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth as well. Still, he's at the top of the list for all-time franchise players in several categories. He was also the only thing worth watching in the mid-90s, and it was really hard to see him get traded away.
I'm a big fan of both, but each had their warts. In the end, I had to go with Fleury, but it was close.

Went with Theo, but strongly considered Kenta.........that first season was unreal. He showed up for sure in game seven in one of the toughest rinks around: the Spectrum.

Very interesting vote. Both immensely talented players, but with big flaws.
I remember when Theo was traded. I literally couldn't believe it.
I never watched Magic Man live or anything, but he has the single best season by a Flames player ever.
As of this writing I still don't know who to vote for. I'll let the thread develop throughout the day and then cast a vote.

I vividly remember the spot I was standing in when I found out Theo was traded. The exact location in a friends house, Calgary Sun paper. I was a devastated fan.

GOAT!

I'd like Option 4: Theoren "The Magic Man" Fluery.
It's Theo's fire, heart, tenacity, chip on his shoulder and every single ounce of skill he earned from his hardwork... combined with all of Nilsson's natural genetically-given talent. Maybe toss in the zero off-ice drama thing that Bradley had going for him too, just for good measure.

I was having morning coffee at a Humpty's in Lethbridge with some friends who didn't even care about hockey. Grabbed a paper off the rack and sat down to see the headline. It was pretty much the worst.

Fleury. I forgive him for falling off the rails. The dude had a tough life.
Nilsson was crazy talented, but so one-deminsional.
