I grew up with the son of the original owners of Abruzzo. They are all fantastic people. The second owner before Abruzzo went under was the head waiter. No idea on what came after.

I liked Abruzzo 20-25 years ago, and then it went to crap. Not sure if I will try the Yemeni incarnation, but it cannot be worse.

Had the Asian "Night Market" dinner from Workshop last night.
It was great, and as others have said, it was a ton of food. Had enough left over for lunch today.
Highly recommend, will keep an eye out to see what their upcoming menus are.

It was actually slated to close later this summer/early fall. The owners figured there would be no point to open up again for a few weeks.
It's being converted into a condo.

It’s an interesting dilemma. How many drivers does a restaurant need to hire to be able to provide timely deliveries to multiple customers and have the food fresh (ie not sitting in a container as a single driver makes their rounds).

There’s been a lot of hard-to-swallow restaurant closures in Calgary recently, so we are absolutely thrilled to be able to announce a new spot is opening next month.
Last week Brasserie’s owners Jacqueline Warrell and Cam Dobranski announced that they would be closing the doors after a decade of business, but that they’d be back soon with a new concept, and they certainly weren’t kidding about the “soon” part.
Eat Crow will be taking over Brasserie’s former space in Kensington, and it’s set to soft launch at the beginning of June.
The new concept is described as a laid-back snack bar that will offer “classic snacks” (the majority of them veggie-friendly) made with quality ingredients at an approachable price point.
Think root vegetable tartare, handmade perogies, and a butterscotch cream puff to name a few.

I noticed Container Bar and Winebar patio are open now too.

All this discussion about the only options being using a delivery app or setting up their own online delivery option are missing 1 major thing. We all have phones.
My wife and I have been making a point of calling places directly and ordering that way, then picking up our own food (what else do we have to do today?)
Sure, sometimes delivery is the only option (we gotta eat when we've been day drinking), but all things considered, there is a pretty simple solution for anyone who wants to support a local business without a 3rd party taking a cut.
Anyone who is saying "Yeah it sucks for the restaurant, but what am I supposed to do about it" is not being very genuine in their argument/concern for the restaurants.

Are you proposing we use our phones to actually make a phone call? Interesting concept.

Or restaurants could just increase their skip menu prices to make sure that their margins are still profitable. It’s not uncommon to have different skip prices than regular menu prices.
That would definitely encourage people to pick up their phone and call directly.

All the patios packed downtown tonight.
I don’t think 50% capacity was meant to mean 100% capacity on the patio if inside is empty.
