For longer-term deals, Sundqvist and J.T. Compher emerging as favourable comparisons for Bennett. #Flames

I’d give Bennett 4 x 2.75, sure

This seems like a good deal for the Blues

The point is that Bennett should definitely be making more than Sundqvist is, so it's probably a good deal from the perspective of his camp. But I still think it'll be around 2.8 for 2.

Why?

Sundqvist just had a better season on the Cup winning team.

I think Sundqvist and Compher are really good comparables for Bennett with Bennett coming in between. Sunqvist was 4x2.75 and Compher 4x3.5 Put Bennett around 4x3.2

Sundqvist was very strong defensively last year, his takeaway (41) to giveaway (10) ratio was extreme. He's a regular PKer. He starts almost exclusively in the defensive zone for the limited time he does get. And he still outscored Bennett. In addition there's the Stanley Cup winning inflation. Now he is older and this is his first good season, so that needs to be accounted for.

But if anything, I think this sets the upper limit for Bennett, not the lower.

You have to figure Brock McGinn into these comparable too, IMO.
