This is tremendous. Panarin takes a very public stance against Comrade Putin, and this interview dropped while he was still in Russia. Putin historically enjoys almost unanimous support among elite Russian athletes.
On what he thinks about Putin:
“I think he no longer understands what’s right and what’s wrong. Psychologically, it’s not easy for him soberly judge the situation…
I am not saying this because I see any kind of profit for myself in this. I want the people to live better, for teachers and doctors to have better salaries. I don’t want some ballerinas (Panarin is referring to the ultra-patriotic former dancer Anastasia Volochkova) to say, ‘If you don’t like it here, you can leave!’ This is raving madness! Everyone has left already, all the brains are gone. This shouldn’t be happening."
It takes ENORMOUS brass balls to say what Panarin said in that country. I hope he makes it to NYC in time for camp.

Putin doesn't pay attention to hockey though does he?
I hope he doesn't come down with some mysterious illness or accentually caught in a Chechen militant bombing.
Seriously, I hope this opens up the door to more people speaking up and the eventual end of Putin's reign.

Panarin beat out McDavid for the Calder (I know he played more) everyone said he was a 1 year wonder. Panarin second season was just as good then. He left Chicago and everyone said he will be nothing without Patrick Kane. He put up even better stats in Columbus without Kane. Panarin is one of my favorites in the NHL & one of the best, but I'm Russian so I'm a Lil biased. I will say he is very ballsy to talk smack about Putin though, he must have heard of all the stories about political rivals and outspoken media disappearing before, hasn't he? Does he not care about his family back in Russia?

You think if he doesn't pay attention to Hockey this will just somehow float right by him? LOL
I guess I should have used green text.
I was joking, it's well known how big a hockey fan Putin is.
