They still have no good way to get from NB Deerfoot to WB Glenmore.

I brought that up at the open house the province hosted on the Deerfoot improvements. The guy was genuinely surprised that somebody had calculated that the current route is more than a kilometre more than what a "clover leaf" style onramp would be.

Did he have a response other than a shocked look? Did he make a subtle gesture and all of a sudden 2 suits came up and threw you out?

I get surprised looks all the time from these people when I bring stuff up. I seriously think they sleep all day.

It was a comment like "oh- you actually calculated it?" Most of the other vocal people there were throwing out Rick Bell quotes and saying things like "Silly Hall"; and not grasping the difference between the provincial run roads like Deerfoot and the Ring Road; and city run roads like Glenmore or Crowchild.

Once the crowd cleared a bit he did go into more of the detail. Part of the problem is that the bridge where Glenmore goes under Deerfoot can only handle 2 lanes each way of through traffic, so it would involve some sort of flyover. And that if any flyover gets built on Deerfoot it would be at Bow Bottom/Anderson/Southland first- to which I agreed.

He did say the NB Deerfoot to WB Glenmore flyover was on the 20 year plan; however this guy looked like he was about 15 years away from retirement.

NB Deerfoot to WB Glenmore is a big pet peeve for me. You'd *think* that since Glenmore is the only E/W corridor in the south that will connect you to the #1, you'd be able to do it a little more fluidly.

I read recently (perhaps somewhere in this thread?) that they're widening the Deerfoot bridge over Glenmore sometime soon. Here's hoping that they do it right and add two lanes so that there'll be three through lanes plus an exit lane for a WB Glenmore cloverleaf loop.

That ramp will have to be a whole separate bridge, so no sense adding the lane for the ramp.

The new bridge will hold three new Northbound Deerfoot lanes, while the existing bridge will then hold three southbound lanes, plus wide shoulders on both of them.

That is the plan. They are proposing to build a new bridge on the west side of the existing bridge to bring it up to three lanes through each way and add new collector/distributor lanes:

It's really nice that the city makes detailed plans available online. I've driven the Glenmore corridor for pretty much the last decade and it was nice looking at in depth plans to see that an end was in sight.

It's nice to have them, but the city is WAY behind on getting updates to projects up usually, especially for lesser projects.

Weak. According to that, we'll still be routed east of the auto mall to go west on glenmore.

That is mighty silly. I'd probably care more if I didn't usually take Barlow-Shephard to get to Glenmore on my commute.

Are those ramps even planned, or better yet, have some sort of build date?

So I heard on the radio this morning that the city is looking at doing some sort of interim traffic circle at 37th ST and Glenmore while the interchange is being built.

But the traffic circle is only for Eastbound Glenmore to Northbound 37th... what? Did I hear that right?

Also, this traffic circle should be done in a month... I just can't fathom how this would work.

Heard the same on the morning news on QR. It sounded like he was looking at a map of it. Anyone know where this map is? Post it!

Looks like the traffic circle is going to be on 37th, south of Glenmore.
