I know you asked this a few months ago but I don't check this thread often.
I like Trawlers Seafood Kitchen on 14 Street and 16th Avenue SW. They have excellent fish and chips and lot's to choose from in terms of options.

I felt bad for the chef grilling steaks in that glassed-in, smoke-filled cubicle.

My daughter recently said she wanted to try Beef Wellington, so I told her we'd have to go to Wellington's sometime. I guess we better make it soon.

You know, I have never made it there either and have been talking about it for years. I guess I better get myself together in April for my one visit. Maybe you take your daughter, I will take my son, and we can barter dowry terms over beef wellington.

That sucks about Wellington's. We were there the weekend before last, and it was as good as always. I'm going to miss it.

Hang on, isn't dowry where the parents of the daughter give money to the parents of the groom...

Ok, I have a redneck review of beef wellington. It's like cabbage rolls. I'd way rather peel off the gross wrapper, put ketchup on it and eat a normal hamburger/steak. Ick. Bird guts and soggy danish. Way to bollix up a decent tenderloin.

Anyone know if Smuggler's have a kids menu? I don't see one on their website but some restaurants do not present their offerings for kids online.

No, they absolutely don’t. If you can’t find a sitter, you should stay home and Skip some nice Boston Pizza for you and the family

The cynic in me thinks this was all a social media ploy to drum up reservations.

Maybe, reminds me of this:

This has been confirmed?? I hope so as it's a great restaurant and I always enjoy it and I like seeing independent operators continue to do well in Calgary. We don't need another chain like a Keg or a Chop or anything.
I know they had a dispute with their landlord at the Cattle Baron down in the south and it was resolved with the landlord paying up.
From what I understand, the same company (Rio Can??) owns the property where Wellington's is and perhaps the threat was made not to renew their lease when it comes due. If the lawyers got involved again it could have resulted in an agreement.
It's a busy and well run steakhouse with a loyal clientele going on 40 years so it's not a situation where business fell off the cliff.
I am happy to hear reports that the lease has been renewed !! Like I had said in earlier posts, a great place to watch a Flames game and have a higher quality meal for reasonable prices.

Don't listen to this. Let your well-behaved kid experience as many different cuisines and environments as possible. Your life and theirs will be better for it. If someone doesn't like your kid's behaviour, then you've got work to do. If someone is offended by the mere presence of a well-behaved kid eating good food (a step or five above BPs), then screw 'em - that's their problem.
Smugglers certainly isn't so high-end that it is off limits to a kid.
That being said - kid menus usually suck anyway. You'll know that you've succeeded when your kid scoffs at the kids chicken fingers and makes you pay for their lobster and mussels and then laments that the broth was a little too salty.
