Russianflame is the only Russia hockey source I trust now. I consider this Igor Eronko the Eklund of Russia hockey until further notice

The lack of draft picks in recent drafts means we will have contract spots opening up in the next year or two when you'd normally start signing those picks.

Have to think Kyle Dubas is in Yaroslavl not only for Yegor Korshkov. Should also be looking at Alexander Yelesin, one of the toughest KHL Ds. He's a good skater, RH, sees the ice well and throws hit after hit.

Top KHL Players for the 2019 UFA Market
Quote:
1. D Alexander Yelesin
Probability of signing in the NHL: High
NHL contract restrictions: eligible for a 2 years ELC
Projected role next season (if signs): 3rd pairing RD with potential to move up (NHL)
Yelesin is a shutdown right-handed D that hits everything that moves despite not having the greatest size + has a powerful 102 mph slapper as a nice bonus. Not surprisingly there is enough interest from the NHL teams and, obviously, everyone is looking at the Leafs, as the signings of free agent RHDs from the KHL is their signature move.
12. RW Andrei Chibisov
Probability of signing in the NHL: Medium
NHL contract restrictions: eligible for a 1 year ELC
Projected role next season (if signs): Top6 RW in the AHL/middle-six RW in the NHL
Chibisov is a total wildcard: at his best he can show quite a combination of skating, size and skills, the issue is that there are way too many up-and-downs in his game, which makes it harder to predict what he potentially could do on the NHL level.

Rafikov plays on same team as Yelesin wonder if he will ever sign with the Flames. He never did come to a prospect camp in the few years after he was drafted. Maybe having a current teammate will help.

Draft Pick
|
Igor Eronko is a very well respected hockey writer and is usually a very reliable source. But I trust my source as well. Lets see who is right
Re Rafikov - he had a very strong season as well and is a more versatile defenceman. And his contract is expired 30th of April 2019 as well. So I wonder why we are not convincing him to come to Calgary after this season.

I wish we could watch KHL games on regular channels like Snet. Even if it was just like a premier matchup of the week or something.
It would sure beat 5 Snet channels of darts or curling, plus we could make up our own minds on picks and prospects.

Believe they are DAZN - which has recently bumped their price to $20/month - so doesn't fit your regular channel criteria but if you are really dedicated - it is out there.

Treliving mentioned something about signing a little Russian on the morning show today, but I couldn’t tell if it was Yelesin or not.

He was talking about Zavgorodniy. The Flames announced that signing on Saturday.

He flat out denied they signed him...didn't he? I think that "announcement" came from Steinberg and not from the team.
It was a weird exchange because BT wouldnt/couldnt talk about it from what I gathered. Maybe just technicalities holding him up from speaking but man that was odd.

He said he could not confirm or deny when Boomer kept asking if they signed the Russian goalie. Boomer was referring to Dreger's report about Artem Zagidulin.
The Flames have already announced the signing of Zavgorodniy on their website.

KHL contracts are valid until April 30. Treliving may not be able to comment on signing any KHL players until they have expired.
